You look like the American female version of Alexander Zverev, the German (ethnically Russian) tennis-player. You have probably moved away from Poland by now, which is a shame as it would be nice to have you in this country for keeps.

i walked through exactly the same path on my 1st day learning polish… so we survived and even more now we can read all these corky piles of consonants! isn’t it a win? i think it is

Just focus purely on conversation, so understanding what you're hearing and being able to speak and don't even bother with the alphabet or reading. Then once you can hold a conversation easily and fluently, just start watching Polish movies or tv shows with Polish subtitles on so you can understand what you're watching and hearing and read the subtitles so you can associate the sounds with the words so you subconsciously pick up on it. I know I'm 2 years late so probably not helpful lol.

Sorry just saw this video...LOL I did the same thing when I was trying to learn Korean while in Korea. I got on a bus and was reading all the signs as we moved around. At the time I could read pretty much everything but lacked the vocabulary to understand what I was saying.

I've been trying to learn this language for a while now and it is hard. But the best way to learn a language is to go places they speak it. So i'm planing my second trip to poland in a couple of months

I was just in Warsaw couple months ago. Polish is my native language abd yes it is difficult as hell unless you grew up with it or you are from one of the Slavic countries. However Warsaw is rther easy city for tourists - English signs are everywhere, on buses, trams, metro etc. Menues in the restaurants. Many younger people speak English. And for what it is worth your pronunciation is not bad - you have good ears - you should have no issues being understood. Good luck.

Once you learn the varieties, they simplify many things and become more understandable, precise and unambiguous in defining a given state without any misunderstandings or guesswork.

Generally, rz and sz do not sound the same because rz is read like ż. These are some of the letters that are used depending on the grammatical rule, for example there are U and Ó which sound the same, there are Ż and RZ which also sound the same But of course, in words sometimes this rule does not work the same way as in English

Nouns are inflected to reflect their role in a sentence. Subject versus direct object versus indirect object et c. This exists in English. Me, myself, I, and mine. All four words are first person singular but spelled differently to reflect meaning. There’s also noun gender so it’s tough. 😢
