  I agree with those that said God created Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve and the one that was saying we should put God first. Of course a true Christian would know that God does not make any differences between Blacks and Whites and being racist is completely anti Biblical. The Bible also says that it is God that puts people in government and that we have to obey the laws of the land as long as they do not contradict what God says. For example if there is now a law that says you need to kill your children, you don't have to obey it, because murdering children is wrong and a sin.

  I live in the deep South and other than the fact that they found all white males, they did not cherry pick. That's your average point of view. These people kind of revel in the fact that they can't argue the issues very effectively because they feel their truth in their bones, not so much in their heads. They are generally very polite and hospitable, but they feel left out, and they aren't wrong about that. They don't know precisely how they got left behind, and they correctly suspect if they did understand it would be politically incorrect to articulate it. I'm not saying they are correct on all the issues - they couldn't possibly have correct solutions to problems they can't comprehend. Indeed it's been very disheartening for me, as one of them, to watch a New York huckster figure them out and then use them so effortlessly to further his own entirely distinct agenda.

  Growing up as a black man in Mississippi, I can confidently affirm that the individuals encountered here are a unique and select group. It's unlikely you'll encounter them casually, as they might be tucked away in remote areas. Surprisingly, my experiences have shown me that I've encountered more instances of racism in other states. Mississippians, for the most part, are deeply rooted in their religious beliefs and strong work ethic. They align themselves with conservative right-wing ideologies, guided by their interpretation of biblical teachings. Contrary to common beliefs, the level of racism among white people in Mississippi is not as pronounced as many might think. While I acknowledge that this video is 11 years old, I want to emphasize that my personal experience during that time was vastly different from what is depicted in the footage.

  I was born and raised in Mississippi but I have never encountered people like the ones cherry picked in the video. It took visiting the hills in Tennessee with church groups to experience people of this caliber. What is the point of misrepresenting the entire state to this degree? It gives those who look down on an entire population of a state the false sense of superiority while helping them rationalize their own pathetic lives.

  People who’ve never even been to a southern state telling Southerns this is representative of the south 🙄 they absolutely cherry-picked these people and purposely went to a very poor town in Mississippi to conduct their interviews. Also, I find it very telling that they only interviewed white men even though Mississippi is split almost evenly between whites and other races.

Some areas are worse than others but there’s not as much racism and prejudice as people claim. There’s a lot of decent people in the South and there’s plenty of areas where white is not the primary race or where there’s several interracial relationships.

  This is deplorable. I’ve lived in the South my entire 30 years and I can absolutely attest that they cherry-picked these people. I live in Alabama but I’ve been all over Mississippi and Georgia and normal people do not live like this. These are the poorest of people in Mississippi that they targeted to interview. Southerns in general do not have missing rotten teeth and they do not all have signs saying “I’m proud to be white”. There is racism but it’s not representative of everyone in the south. Also, yes southerners are very religious and we do have basic fundamental beliefs when it comes to gay marriage, trans, gun rights, free speech, etc. but we are not targeting people who believe differently than us like the liberals do. For the most part, southerners just want to live their simple lives without being forced to change our fundamental beliefs.

The war left the South desolate and the stress and tension between whites and blacks was left to the South to handle. The KKK and other racist groups were formed out of fear of blacks. I’m not excusing it because it was deplorable but that’s just the way it was. EVERYONE in the South was poor and fighting for scraps, then the Great Depression happened. Southerns believe in freedom of speech and religion, and the second amendment. These are the beliefs I’m referring to.
