I agree 100 % especially load bearing walls keeps studs straight from bowing. Carrying load to foundation. Adds alot of strength to wall !
Yes, especially with a lot of these built up quick homes. Having this extra barrier of stability is essential. Do you have blocking in your home?
i usually block all my walls interior and exterior, it keeps stud true and from twisting. Its minimal expense to do adds alot of structural integrity to your walls.

This is a modern home. I much prefer wooden barley twist stair cases with oak floors and more curvicture to the home. This is a lovely home and one thing I have noticed with today's new homes is that they are either square or rectangularly shaped. A few are round but there are no intricate designs like the victorian houses. Such a shame.

Avoid Austin. Austin use to be a clean and welcoming city. Today its a homeless have led by liberal leadership.
Are you talking about the suburbs as well? The suburbs do a great job keeping the riff raff away.
Avoid Kyle, Buda, Manor, Elgin, Del Valle, Taylor, Hutto, Pflugerville and Round Rock. And buy on the west side of IH35. Never buy on the east side.
Why never buy on the east side? Also you named 3 south Austin suburbs lol. Kyle and BUDA are both on the south west side. They are the most affordable and closer to downtown .😊

If you want to see what its like in Kyle and Buda, the take a tour of the middle and high school when they are back in session and you will see why Kyle / Buda are on the bottom of the list. Same for Manor and Elgin.

This is 100% the wrong answer. The blocking at the top is the exterior sheathing seam, the lower ones are for cabinets... Literally the most ignorant Construction video I've ever seen... 40 years as a contractor.

Yes, but highly doubt you want every upgrade in this house. That’s why it’s awesome you can add them on to it
Apart from fixtures and materials used, another couple of reasons why single story homes can be more expensive than two story homes is because there is more foundation and roofing work that needs to be done with single story. If you have a single story home that is 2000 sqft, 2000 sqft of foundation and roofing work needs to be done. If you have a 2 story 2000 sqft home that is split into 1000 sqft on each floor, only 1000 sqft of foundation and roofing work is needed.
