    I love this. I have been doing the same 2 affirmations in the shower every morning since I was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer 18 years ago. I do then add a third different affirmation weekly in my journal. I repeat each 3 times, first out loud then in a whisper then silently.

    It definitely stems from trauma and is in and of itself an unhealed trauma symptom. It is the flight response of the nervous system, and it's arguably the most societally praised of the four trauma nervous responses, so that external validation adds to it as well as the programming you mentioned. I have found a lot of relief from magic 🍄 trips

  • @alisiademi
    @alisiademi18 күн бұрын

    I would add that a lot of us bounce back and forth from the flight and freeze response but always try to stay in flight because freeze response is the opposite of societally praised.

    @@alisiademi These are really great points Alisia! I really appreciate you sharing and adding to the conversation on this. Trauma response may not be the first thing one would think of, but I can definitely see this being a root cause.

    I am so exhausted all the time and feel so defeated by how little I get done. Your suggestion to reduce the number of things and then reduce it more sounds like a good idea but then it gets me thinking that maybe I will get too little done and never achieve my goals.

  • @jmbliving
    @jmbliving17 күн бұрын

    Senta, I'm sure the lack of energy for what you want to accomplish can be so discouraging. Hopefully you are able to get the support you need to be able to optimize your health and energy. I've been thinking a bit about your concern about getting too little done and not achieving your goals. I think with feeling exhausted, it becomes even more important to get very clear on what is truly most important to you so that you don't deplete yourself by trying to accomplish too much. At the end of the day there are only so many hours in the day and one can only be so efficient. Not to mention, you need to rest to restore to find the creativity and energy to be able to achieve those goals. Perhaps you shouldn't look at it like having to give up on any of your dreams, rather that you are prioritizing so that you can focus your time and energy in the most effective way. Not to mention, I've been amazed at the extra creativity one can find to do things in a much shorter time frame, when you are well rested and well nurtured. ❤

    I do agree that happiness is fleeting and that true joy last through trials. I also believe that sometimes it can be easy to get lost in the hustle of a too busy life. And that when we slow down and see the beauty and goodness all around us in small simple moments, those moments can provide happiness often. How wonderful that you have found true lasting joy. ❤️

    While I am blessed that today I have more than enough financially, there have been times in my life where I didn’t have enough money for food or the rent - many personal things lost to the pawn shops in those days. I’ve also felt heart wrenching loss that through me into the gloom of depression. What I found interesting was that even then, while I was so sad, I could feel a bit of joy at the same time while stopping to appreciate a tiny flower. I hope if you are struggling now, that your struggles are short lived and you find happiness in your life despite it. ❤️

    Julie, I love this. (and I love sushi). It's so nice getting a personal glimpse of you with your family. i have been slowing down more, giving myself moments of relaxing, visits, reading or just sitting outside and not worrying about the housework or tasks I didn't get done today. Seems somedays I try to pack as many tasks and errands in as I can tolerate, thinking "get it all done today and tomorrow will be free", but it seems that tomorrow is just as crazy busy. I need to intentionally stop and give myself some me time.

    Thanks Julie! I love this. I want to take more control of my mornings and do 3 things each morning; meditate, journal and exercise. I sometimes do this, but certainly not consistently. I do get up between 6 and 6:30 but too often waste time drinking coffee and watching the local news or Today show. Then I’m rushing ! Not watching news is on my Say No To list! Maybe I should start by cutting down on news in the morning.

    If you really don’t like doing it- like have to kind of force yourself to do it, I’d say it counts. I think it has to be more aversion than just something you don’t like to do. Can’t say I like driving either.
