why is blender and every other relative program so damn complicated. CAD make way more sense. That's why I always modern in fusion 360 and then export the models

This demonstrates one thing that annoys me about how they overcomplicate Blender sometimes. You can’t just click on the curve pen tool and start drawing a curve, you need to add a curve, then an unhelpful curve appears in the middle of the scene, then delete the points of that curve before you start drawing the curve you want. And the first point you start drawing always has weird extended horizontal bezier handles, instead of starting with the handles set to the origin, like most other bezier tools. I just want to be able to select the pen tool and start drawing. And to give the curve a solid pipe like appearance, you have to adjust the Bevel settings ? It’s not really designed to be intuative.

That kind of stuff makes sense if you get used to it. You may want to have several curves in one object that you can easily move or rotate, so you need to add an curve object first and only then use the draw tool. You don't always want the curve to have a profile, that's why you need to do it manually

@@twistednormals Thanks. I use Cinema 4D predominantly, and if you want to add a spline(curve), you click on the pen tool and just start drawing one. That way seems many times easier than creating a shape I don’t need. If I could write a script that did that, I would 🙂

  • @BlenderVitals

There’s a few ways. You add loop cuts with CTRL + R in edit mode, use a Boolean modifier, or subdivide your mesh and select the faces you want for a window and delete them

Why not just use a flat object with a fence texture and alpha out the shape? I mean… why would you need to model a fence when you can just do it this way?

  • @toxicdermyillunary4103

To be fair without addons or texture assets texturing something like that is a tough job. But single plane is still better in general. Less poly and with assets much faster and simpler.

Does anyone know a way to force Blender to respect vertex selection order when making ngons out of points? I keep running into thing like L-shaped n-gons where Blender connects the points in the wrong order regardless what order I select them in.
