  Is Interpretation diploma required?

  This occupation is a highly professional level, above all other language based work, at the very apex. You would not come across any interpreter at this cutting edge level without a uni diploma, specifically with high literature level studies would develop interpreters to become more or less 'master' of at least 2 languages, with mother tongue being a major component. Target language(s) are also would be requiring such operators' working experience at similar level(s). Nerves of steel and clearest, non-stressed mind is an absolute necessity as basic requirement to enable conveyance of subject matter at same level of language(s) being heard by interpreters in this field.

  In order to work for EU as an interpreter or a translator, you have to have a thorough command of at least 3 languages, which has to be official in at least one EU country. So neither of those you said count. Also keep in mind that you’ll need a EU citizenship as well.

  İrem K. What if someone were to know English French and Irish, and then on top of that knew those 3 Asian languages? Would that be significantly beneficial? Or in theory would it be better if they just knew 6 EU languages?

  習禁評-小熊維尼Finnegan Well, you see, EU parliament is all about the relations between European countries. So knowing anything else than 23 specific languages does no good at all. Think about it like this: There’s a need for someone who could translate between Greek and French, and you happen to know both languages + Korean, while other competitors are only able to speek Greek and French. In that case, employer would not be so interested in your extra skill since it’s not appealing to him. To sum it up, no. It doesn’t really matter.

  習禁評-小熊維尼Finnegan And no, it’s not only English, French and Irish. This video just shows and example. It could be any combination of 3, out of 23 official languages of EU. This includes; Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenia, Slovene, Spanish and Swedish.
