La Bottine Souriante voit le jour à l’automne 1976 dans Lanaudière, une région du Québec où le métissage entre racines celtiques et acadiennes est venu fertiliser le terroir d’ici. L’arrivée du groupe sur la scène artistique québécoise s’inscrit dans un mouvement de retour aux sources qui a permis à toute une génération, au cours des années 70, de redécouvrir ses traditions.

In the fall of 1976, La Bottine Souriante saw the light of day in Lanaudière, a region of Quebec whose culture thrives on a rich blend of Celtic and Acadian roots. The band’s arrival on the Quebec arts scene fits in with a return to tradition that allowed an entire generation, in the 1970s, to rediscover its heritage.
