Is the process the same for mk2
thank you
thanks , found rust in my hall effect plug on dist , shut off car from running , love you stuff
Wow, wish I found you a while ago. Awesome videos. I've been working on 1 of these cabriolet for a long time. Your videos have been very helpful. Thanks
Where are u frm
you can tell this young guy is pretty sharp. GOOD mechanics are born not made.
Great video 🔥 but my golf has a mechanical fuel pump (carbureted) so is this method still possible or would I need the timing light?
Hi…thanks so much. Your videos have given me the confidence to tackle air, fuel and oil filters as well as coolant flushes and oil changes. Just one question re. transmission fluid change and my 1988 gti cabriolet. Followed your steps but when it came to fill up the transmission with the car jacked up as high as it would go, i could not get the full 2 litres in and it started dripping out after about 1.5 litres went in. This was after draining for 10 mins with the car level. Any ideas why?
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Oli, thanks for the informative video. Im still having some problems with my polo mk 2 where the fan wont turn on. I have brigde the switch on the radiator and the fan works and turns smoothly, i then replaced the thermoswitch, but it still dosnt come on when the motor is too hot. what else could be the problem. no fuses are blown and i have also cheked for airlocks in the system. Any advice would be greatly apreciated. Greeting from Denmark
Does your car have to be on some machine to change battery?
Great job
Can I leave this taken apart while doing the flush ?
My coolant was foamy and dirty looking .. is something bad ?
i dont seem to have a top dead center mark on my wheel, what to do now?
Thanks!
Nice video Men, tks
Hey I changed my master cylinder, bled it, bled the brakes manually with a friend. Now my pedal goes to the floor when running. It’s normal when car is off. Once I start car it goes right to the floor. Also my brake light flashes on cluster No ABS light, only brake light flashing ABS fuse is good I bled the brakes twice Could there be air in my abs module? Any ideas
I love this Car.
Where can I purchase this relay harness? Thanks great channel
Now my speedo is jumping until I get to 50mph after installing new speedo cable, so annoyed
Hello need help with 1991VW cabriolet 1.8 - I turn key an lights work but no crank-
Do you have a link to the cable?
Can you link all of the belts you used ?
Just did this on my Scirocco -- thanks for the tip! Slider is nice and happy now. After that simple job, I moved on to the AC-style blower motor replacement project, and that suuucks.
I have a half of a video on how to remove that. Check out my rebuild an ac system video. But yes…not a fun job haha
Does this work with any Audi? My son has 2013 A5 Premium Plus with this message
Yes, it’ll work in that car too
Is that an RD engine code?
Homie, use Castrol oil for euro engines not Mobile one. I used to use Mobile one, 20k miles for my KIA it worked great no issues. but Castrol, and liquid molly is specifically for German cars.
Is this the same process for a vw golf mk4? Slave, fronts, then backs. Ive been doing back to front and my pedal goes straight to the floor and ive bleed each 3 times and still pedal has no resistance with no leaks in the brake system. Its got me stumped
Good question. It depends on the brake system in your mk4. Two different ones are discussed in the service book. One type is slave, back, then front and the other is slave, front, then back. Are you getting any air out of the lines when you’re bleeding it? Is there any pressure building up? What did you do to the car causing you to require the bleed?
@OlisGarage cheers for the reply. I had warped disks on the front and back, so I replaced the disks and the pads all around. And one caliper was seized solid on the back. So replaced that as well. I got air out the new caliper and then a steady stream of fluid. So then went round all the calipers back to front, when I got the front passanger caliper the pedal lost all resistance and went straight to the floor. So went back to the rear calipers and started bleeding again and can't get a solid pedal now. I've check for leaks through the whole system, and I'm stumped.
@@mrcabbagegaming4609 hmm. That is weird. It could be that your brake master failed. Not unheard of happening, but not expected. If you pump the brake a few times does it ever get firm? Did you suck the reservoir dry in the bleeding process? These things are never hard. Just tricky. And in the process absolutely frustrating haha
@OlisGarage it is an odd one haha. If I pump the brake it goes firm while bleeding until i get to the front passanger caliper it goes soft again, the reservoir always had fluid in i topped it up after each caliper, I'll give it another go later see if I'm missing anything and double check everything I'll drop you an update.
I have a spring between the U joint and colum shaft, maybe because mine its a EU car? also I cant reasembly the wheel because I have less than 41 cm clearance
Great video. Thanks! I have a Mk3.5 (golf) Cabrio in the US. I will be fixing the manual seat height adjustment, which didn't work well when I got the 2001 5 years ago and now does nothing. Recently the seat adjustment stopped locking easily in place for the front-back direction actuated by the level on the front of the seat, too, so I finally have to do something!
European mk1 Gti Cab. had an interference engine. I know because a bent two valves After I changed the timing belt... Long story
Great video, ty.
thank you!
Oli, you really are helping me out tremendously! I’ve been watching your Vanagon videos too! U 2 R doing a great job on that old gal! My air intake rubber boot it really shot! Any idea where I might be able to source a new or in gid condition used boot? Any help on this would be much appreciated!
Do you think I could use an oil extractor to do the oil change on my cabby?
Nice one
3:07 German Engineering tab from hell, thank you so much for the video
hello friend do you guy do repair ? How can i get in contact with you
I got a 1990 Wolfsburg. Thermostat isn't opening but its new and works. Top hose definitely gets hot the bottom hose is ice cold tho. Pumps new as well
Have you tested the thermostat in boiling water?
@@OlisGarage yes I have. The thermostat is good and so is the water pump. Just put a new headgasket in 2 days ago (head was decked professionally) timing is mint and she runs like a champ but still over heats. Fan is bypassed and on a switch (i turn it on at aroumd 120f) when I squeeze the bottom hose on radiator it does put flow back into overflow tank. Could it be just reduced flow? The rad is literally the only thing g I haven't replaced yet . It seems to have flow though however the top will be hot and the bottom cold
@@OlisGarage i do not think the thermostat is opening but I'm not understanding why it wouldn't be. It works fine while boiled as does the old one
Fuck you audi
My oil light at the cluster doesn’t turn on when I turn the ignition switch on. I’ve tried all these tests on this video and can’t seem to get the light to turn on. Could it be a bad light bulb in the cluster ?
My mk1 the oil light doesn't flash with ignition on, infact I've never seen it light up ever but the car still starts fine. What could be the issue?
Phew! I'm so glad most vehicles have moved to sealed bearing hubs. I thought repacking drum brake bearings was bad enough; this is a whole other level of Dante's Inferno. Cheers to your gumption and tenacity! BTW - I'm not sure of when you initially recorded this video but I suspect your still cleaning grease from your tools and workshop surfaces! LOL - that synthetic grease is gnarly!
The newer sealed bearings are super nice….haha. Now luckily I won’t have to touch them in a long time though!! Did you notice how halfway through there is a strange lack of focus and glare? Yup. Grease got on the lens haha. It really was everywhere.
Awesome video! How different is this for a 1992 mk2 cabriolet
Curious to know what made you choose this alternator over others considering you have to replace the fan and what not to make the belt fit? I don’t have the gun you use to get out the fan, and wondering if you recommend any other alternatives that might fit right off the bat?
I thought it was going to fit right out the box. Otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it. I think it depends on who remanufactured it. You can always use a vice to hold the pulley or a large pair of pliers and a helper.
Really straight forward video! I am looking into doing a transaxle fluid change on my MK2 golf, and this video gives me a better idea of how to do that, even if the vehicles are different.
I have one that’s for you mk2! Well it’s on a mk1, but it’s the same. Just search mk1 transmission fluid change. It’s one of my older videos, but still extremely accurate!
Im doing the exact job tomorrow. Just picked up my parts from powder coat! Have everything except the HD endlinks... Later.
Heck yes!! Good luck with the repair. It’s worth it in the end! Good choice with powder coat. I used spray paint because I was already running well over budget haha
Hi i was wondering if this would apply the same for a 2000 new bettle bug i csn tell my clutch is slipping so i was gonna adjust it but idk like to at least half way know what im doing before i touch anything eith a tool
Stupid design. Easy to get wet.
