    How or when would we know if this is about to happen? How can we check or know when to replace a turbo. I have a 2012 f250 6.7 with 340k stock turbo.

    @klikliks_service not really. That would've been way more work than just notching the firewall. The wiring was pretty involved though, grafting the super duty harness into the bricknose dash took alot of time and effort but had that classic look I was going for. The cluster fitment wasnt perfect, but it is what it is. I just wish I never sold this truck lol

    i've had a slight ticking on mine for awhile i always put marvel mystery oil in with every oil change, had the truck for 2 years now it's not knocking just ticking 171k on it been thinking about replacing those with a new oem set didn't wanna spend the extra money or the labor to change the cam to non dod. I do all the work on my stuff I just need to find a great replacement set that won't fail on me. dod afm thing has been disabled long before I owned it and still is. I think the 6l80 trans is on it's way out too that one a shop would have to do for me. Kinda scared to take it to a shop and it come back knocking because they ran it hard a few times as that's what they do to make sure it's gonna last. What's your thought on this?

  • @farley4633
    @farley46334 ай бұрын

    Are you sure it isn't the manifolds ticking? Very common on these engines. Honestly as long as you have the afm disabled I wouldn't really worry about it until it gives you a problem. Usually they only fail when they collapse to go into V4 mode then they don't pump back up. Keep the oil clean and you should be fine

    @@farley4633 Know anything about the 6l80 transmissions? I feel like it's been slipping fluid has been changed and no difference seems like it's been taking more rpm and time to get to 60mph was thinking of a trans rebuild but i know costes have gone up over the last 4 years. And i have a hard time believing any of these used transmissions are any good.

  • @farley4633

    @AaronBilger I changed alot of those transmissions on Express vans when I worked at Penske. I definitely wouldn't go used. They have to be programmed when you swap them too, its not like a 4L60E where you just bolt a new one up and go

    @@farley4633 just found a 6l90 I could swap in there, guy said it was just recently rebuilt at his shop $1500 but it's 2wd seen a video of someone cutting the tail stock shaft down to the shorter length to work for 4x4. The driveshaft needs to be shortened a tiny bit. Yes I already knew about the program. Is it the same thing as taking my scan tool and reprograming it like it goes through and shifts all it's gears through or do I take it to a dealer and have them reflash it? I have a ‘85 E350 Centurion VanTruck dually thing that I got for $43 because a rod is sticking out of the IDI’s oil pan. I pulled the IDI out before winter started and gutted the interior so I can clean it up proper, take care of some rust and then figure out what engine setup I want to put in it. I’ve decided that I’m gonna go the 6.0 Powerstroke route and clearance what needs to be cleared because it’s such a fun turbodiesel. I feel it would make this VanTruck thing the most fun. Im gonna buy a Warren Diesel Injection VGT harness and then wire up a switch panel for the starter and everything else on the rig.

    Did you replace the lifter trays? Definitely should have! By the way, any roller lifter can fail in these and other brand engines due to excess clearance between the lifter and the tray allowing the lifter to rotate with respect to the cam. New head bolts used? Ever had problems with pressure washing. Probably best not to.
