Fifth generation South Eastern Washington wheat farmer that is currently working for the neighbors. I left the family farm to go and do my own thing. Come with me, as I take you in the cab through some of the steepest farmland in America. Business inquiries @ [email protected]

Wow😊
wow, great overview and thanks for this! My wife and I noticed there are no water apparatus or irrigation sloughs for the fields. How are the crops watered throughout the summer?
By early to mid July this field should be ready to be harvested. Some harvests can last up to two months and during that time we hope it doesn’t rain and it normally doesn’t. This is all dryland wheat and legumes, so its not irrigated but it is awfully dry and the yields are dependent upon the weather.
@@TrevorStruthers Mahalo for getting back to me. Amazing how the roots chase the water table. This year is definitely a drought year. Seeing how low Lake Keechelus is this season is very concerning. I hope y'all have a good yield and the rotating crops will be ok. What will be next for planting?
@@HealthFitnessMartialArtsDEng usually peas then wheat again if theres enough rain

Shank Spacing 15 inches. However, they are using a shank that seeds two rows 4 inches apart and then they are on the shanks that are 15 inches apart. It is confusing but I think its like 11 inches.

Love watching the hillside machines work. I used to drive a JD 6602 for harvest.
Heck yeah! I llearned on an 02 and 22 as well
where are you guys harvesting right now? Is this Walla Walla or Palouse ?
This is old footage from last year i never released. Harvest usually starts here about the week after the 4th of July. 5th often.
Do you guys do any business with agri-northwest? My dad used to work there and he said he knew the struthers
Yeah they border our families farm in Eureka. Used to be K2H but now the mormon church owns it and calls it agri northwest. They got lots of irrigation and potatoes
@@TrevorStruthers sweet, I believe we might now be neighboring fields. We are taking over nibler farmins
every seen anyone do that with a john deer ?????
Yes sir. An older john deere would work great. The new ones of red and green are all So Heavy
Such a cool planting team!
Great video Trevor. Thanks for sharing. I am glad it turned out okay.
Me too!
Is 3 fires in one harvest normal?
No, not usually. One a year maybe per crew is about standard. Varied outcomes on the fires. Sometimes the whole machine is lost.
Thanks Trevor, goodness the insides of that thing are complicated!
Thanks Trevor, scary stuff, it was good when the nervous looks turned to smiles! May this never happen again!
I hope so too. Yeah you could tell when we were feeling better about the situation for sure.
You're a wonderfully resourceful young man 🎉
I try. Thank you.
did the bearings on the center pusher belt lock up tight that is where the fires are.
It was actually a toothed gear that a chain goes onto on the header. A sprocket was misaligned which caused the chain to strike on the metal of the header which caused sparks which lit the feederhousue on fire.
Great Video Trevor, That was scary, thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it and yes it was. Thanks tony for commenting.
Just curious, why do your extinguishers have water instead of foam?
They can be used and refilled is one reason. Another is that most fires we have arent chemical fires. There is a small red one in each cab usually as well.
@@TrevorStruthers that’s makes sense! Thanks Trevor! Great content as always!
Damn trevor this is very impressive and nice safe man! Also could you let us know what failed once you find out? As a farmer I like knowing this stuff thanks for the great content

I know that guy in the plane.
Yeah? I keep hearing they don't like self propelled sprayers too much and drones maybe even less.
How did the steam engines run with out burning the whole country side ?
Spark-arrestors perhaps. There is a lot of moving pieces on a modern combine and I have seen a lot of fires started by them.
@@TrevorStruthers yes there is, a corn field on fire is equal to the wheat field on fire. I have seen bearings start fires in corn.
@@danthurman9076 i believe it. Standing anything like that is bound to burn. I am uploading the whole feeder house fire video right now. We had 3 fires in a row at the start of harvest. A bearing on the head lost a header but we saved the combine. Thats an old video of mine
Looked like a big circle-jerk. If 30 mile an hour winds were actually happening I would not have been standing around with 5 people talking about it instead of ripping into the combine looking for where it was coming from. Act first and think later.
Great Video Trevor, I don't recall a fire started by a header but it is nearly 40 years since i have been involved with harvesting, thanks for sharing
I think that this one was static electricity, but my most popular full video is a header fire that nearly cost the people I was working with a combine. That combine didnt finish harvest anyways cause no header.
Good catch and call not going on!
Yeah, we sat around for a bit but I am glad we got the radios figured out. There was two more fires to go on my machine. I was the only one that had any fires on our crew.
Thanks for the great content trevor
Great Video Trevor, That is some steep S#$T, thanks for sharing
If you guy's are talking about being able to understand each other on the radio, I have found that you DON'T want to use that piece of crap factory mic. Spend $60 to $80 on a decent mic from a truck stop or Amazon and it WILL make a world of difference. I had a buddy of mine prove it to me now I've got the whole company using good after market mics and we can understand each other !!
planting wheat every year?
Yeah. Not enough rain to do much else
impressive these big hill fields
Magnifique moissonneuse batteuse et les tracteur et les remorque 😂😮😅😊
Great job keep it up
Thanks Trevor, I await the next episode!
another great vid Trevor Struthers 💌
love the video
Another nice one Trevor. Nice job of digging up the old footage.
One of my favorite things about the aesthetics of this video is the close-up wheat in the foreground with the combines on the hillsides in the background. As I'm always telling you, you have a great natural eye for a cinematographic shot!
TY honey.
Love yr video s Geoff from the UK.
Many thanks Geoff!
Interesting. Thanks.
Another excellent video Trevor, thanks. Nice country there.
Thanks John. Yeah, she was beautiful country. Chad said his dad fell near 600 acres of forest to make some of these fields.
Proud of my bro!
Thanks Trevor, it's good to see another farmer's set-up and terrain. Is the grass harvested for forage or grazed?
They harvest the seed! Swath it and then combine it all.
Very kool Trevor 😎 👌
Best farming family in the state of Idaho!
Blows me away how advanced farming tech is these days! Great video as always good sir!
Thank you very much Joel!
That was good!!
Hi Chad, imagine my surprise when this video comes up on my you tube. Glad to see your still doing well cousin.
Haha. That's awesome.
Another great video Trevor! Nice to see other areas and other farming practices. Interesting to see where the bluegrass seed comes from. Be fun to see them combining the grass. Thanks for the great job.
Cool video!
Glad you enjoyed it! Your cousin in the comments above had me putting you back in the thumbnail. lol.
Great content as usual Trevor.
Much appreciated! Thank you.
Wasnt that even safe?
Nah, but we planted it and you gotta reap what you sow. Or so the saying says. 😅
spraying with out gps?
Steering by hand but it knows where ive been and i dont ever double apply anywhere. Its pretty slick
Thanks for the video! I sprayed hills in PA with an F-350 with a GVM body. Not for the faint of heart.
I see guys around here with 4x4 solid axle sprayers with monster truck vibes. Putting one on an f-350 frame is pretty smart
