ChiTownView

Welcome to ChiTownView where we present clips about the Chicago area & it's history. Traveling around the city I'm always aware of the history that surrounds me and how quickly the physical signs of the history can slip away.So I stop look and make short clips and if there's a story behind what I'm seeing I share it. The material we're presenting is for the most part original productions. We have three continuing series running right now. "Chicago Crime Now & Then" is our look at the long history of organized crime in the windy city. We also look at the area designs by Frank Lloyd Wright. And take you on The Chicago Neon Tour.

We don't limit our offerings to Chicago related things but delve into other big cities and offer some interesting documentaries. Explore our extensive playlists you never know what you'll find.

Even Barney Fife wouldn't give a grifter $10,000.00 cash with no witness or a receipt. And probably wouldn't get framed for a murder. Did Raymond Chandler really write this????

I found this butterfly as a 19 year old Occupier. I’ve never forgotten him. It’s so nice to see his memory lives on, thank you for capturing this moment with my little friend. He ended up staying with me for about two hours.

This show had potential but it’s missing something. Maybe a little better writing would do the trick. Some of the acting is weak too. But it’s still entertaining.

My best guess is that it was an injury, a cut, which he sported for a few episodes of this show. It appears that KZread removed an earlier comment of mine as “hate speech”, which had absolutely nothing to do with hate speech, which was speculating on the nature of his injury.

Gilbert's secretary was played by the same actress who played Mike Hammer's secretary in "Kiss Me Deadly". Lydia's father was a character actor who appeared in tons of movies and tv shows. For me he is most memorable for saying "That's strange. That plane's dusting crops where there aint no crops" to Cary Grant in "North by Northwest"

What we need to know about ourselves from God's Word and our only hope of being justified before a Holy and righteous God: [WHY WE HAVE NO HOPE IN OURSELVES: Mk. 7:20-23 And he (Jesus) said, That which comes out of the man, that defiles the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things (sins) come from within, and defile the man.] [WHY WE NEED A SAVIOR: Rom. 3:10-28 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things so ever the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his (God's) sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ to all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believes in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Joh. 3:16 For God so loved the world (us), that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Joh. 14:6 Jesus said to him (us), I am the way (salvation), the truth (assurance), and the life (eternal): no man comes to (God) the Father, but by me (God the Son). Rom. 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:]

That's a really good episode with a stellar cast -- thank you. First I've seen of this series. I got confused because Carey looks so much like Hugh Marlowe, unrelated to all this -- a common actor face type shared by Howard Duff and (sort of) Henry Fonda.

Pretty gosh darn good. Better than the first one l saw. No mention of the excellent Rhys Williams (as Hank) who made his film debut in John Ford's "How Green Was My Valley" (best picture of 1941) ?? The only bone fide Welshman in the film.

Not bad. But not Raymond Chandler either. What's with the scar that's not explained? Previous episode? Who's paying Marlowe to snoop around? Phil Carey is a too well-dressed and lacking a certain cynical weariness to be entirely believable. I'd still watch another one...

In my opinion, the best Philip Marlowe ever was Bogart in "The Big Sleep". Who came second? Robert Mitchum in "Farewell My Lovely". If you haven't seen these two movies, see them, you won't be disappointed. Again, these are my two favorite Marlowes. Everyone else...........it's just chin music!
