Q4Coasters

I would try and write something creative here but I'm not the one for words LMAO. I sit in my room and yap about rollercoasters with a sprinkle of terrible comedy. If you have crusty humour like me I might make you laugh but of course its not for everyone and that's okay!

I just wanted to credit some people I was inspired by as curtesy. I know my content is still different but I thought it would be nice to mention! Coaster Shark, Digital Dan and Expedition Theme Park are the guys that really got me into discussion type videos! Digital Dan and I share similar humour I think so if you find him funny you will probably find me funny! :D

    I think the most thoroughly boring water ride to ever exist has to be the since removed "The Flume" at Alton Towers, themed to Imperial Lather. Literally *_nothing_* happened, there was hardly any theming, so the majority of the ride was just sitting in a boat slowly bumping down an algae ridden blue half pipe. fun. So glad they got rid of it.

    Was one of the last to ride Vickings. Was a good ride, believe it closed due to structural issues with it being built on a hill. I think the hill element worked well for it before Ninjago which blocked the veiw. It had some nice themeing along the ride with the Lego Models. Probably the best themed rapids in the uk outside of the 'ugly' ride structure. Then again have only done Merlin rapids. Obviously the others have nice elements like tunnels alongside other rides, waterfalls and more sharp drops. Vickings also had an epic station area that in my mind beats all the others. I hope they keep it for whatever replaces Vikings. Obviously the queue line design could have been better. Legoland did fill the void of Vickings by opening Minifigure Speedway, another nice family thrill ride. The Vickings area has great potential and im sure they will make good use of the space after a couple of years. Legoland has a nice selection of classic water rides.

    @@samexahr3326 i doubt they will go back to vikings to be honest, with ninjagos 15th anniversary on the way I could see them extending that area? Maybe a new mack spinning coaster? They are building one in Korea right now actually! Or some flat rides but Legoland has a great selection of flat rides they are just missing another water ride or another coaster for sure! Viking river splash in its prime was great but it’s sad to look at now I doubt they will revive the ride system because it was too expensive to run. It was definitely the better rapids I guess now the best rapids is congo river at Alton Towers because at least that had a coherent theme. Rumba rapids has nothing going for it and its a waste of space imo. Also sorry i know this is long but I hope they keep the dragon models from the viking area they are very cool

    I used to love Viking River Splash, it was a disappointment when I rode it on September before it closed as the theming as not great by then but when the theming was good it was one of my favourite rides at Legoland. I rode it twice in the rain just before it closed (absolutely tipped) as I wanted to experience it before it closed forever. I hated Loggers Leap though as I got thrown high out of the back of the boat and crashed back down hard onto the seat so the bottom of my back still hurts now if I sit for too long on a hard chair (I rode it back in 2010 I think). Personally Chessington isn't my favourite but I can see why it could be a favourite. Thorpe is my least favourite of the merlin Parks. Most of the main rides contain elements which I don't enjoy. I would happily give it the crown of being the thrill capital, but that's not what I personally look for in a park. My favourite is Alton Towers, many great thrill rides more to my taste. Nice theming too. Main issue is how far away it is. Legoland is second as its my childhood park and has great classics like fairytale brook. Chessington is 3rd. Likely how Legoland may have looked if it had remained as Windsor Safari Park. Very nice themed rides like Vampire. Thorpe is 4th, it's a nice park, but isn't the first one I would go for.

Shoutout to Iron Gwazi though, it was my first and still currently the only RMC I've been able to ride and with my first experience I was at a loss for words on how smooth a rollercoaster could be, the entire thing is just silky smooth the whole way with no jitters or bumps and that part blew me away just as much as the ride itself, and the smoothness was still there a year later. I supposed a practical way of trying to break the smiler record is to make a mobius loop dueling coaster with 8 inversions on each side. That way the ride is long but you can also do some creative things with the dueling, like what's done on Twisted Colossus.

  • @Q4Coasters

    that actually sounds like a great idea! lots of inversions can work but the ride has to be longer haha! :D

    Smiler for me is an experience in and of itself. Almost like how a flat ride might aim to disorient. Do I think it's the hallmark of good coaster design? No. Do I enjoy it for what it is? Yes. I think there are coasters that are demonstrably worse off for chasing inversion records, but inversions definitely can have their place. I can't imagine nemesis without inversions, it would be such a different ride experience. But I also don't think inversions are necessary for thrill. I very much don't agree with people who say Taron needs an inversion.

  • @Q4Coasters
    @Q4Coasters10 күн бұрын

    totally agreed! you make some great points not every coaster needs inversions like i discussed but I didn't mean that we don't need them at all. Like any element we need variety for it to be enjoyable and anyway different people like different things meaning some will prefer airtime over positive or negative G's. But I love that you mentioned Taron that's a great example that I should have used in my video tbh ahahaha! The Smiler just definitely isn't for me but its amazing to look at. I love watching it and its crazy how they fit something like that into such a small space :D

    Got the same problem as most coasters in the UK, they're just baby versions of what you can get elsewhere.

  • @Q4Coasters
    @Q4Coasters10 күн бұрын

    yes but I think that's a good thing for people that are a bit scared or nervous its more of a stepping stone! but also the UK are responsible for a lot of world firsts in design and we set the standard earlier on. While our coasters might not be huge I love them for what they are, also the theming on a lot of them are better than a lot of American coasters. I prefer a themed experience to an amusement park type one

    @@Q4Coasters Yeah but those days ended long ago and only really covered 1994 to 2002. Then we did not much of anything for 20 years, you can only look at The Smiler and go "no one else has a coaster like that", everything else wouldn't even make the top 50 even in their day. Alton Towers has done nothing for six years again, the coaster they teased will be some boring family indoor coaster. Where are the big hitters? Wickerman and Icon were both just okay and Hyperia is the only thrill coaster for the next several years most likely.

    @@Chico-m9y oh damn ok you really don’t like alton towers! I’m sorry that its not your favourite I agree that they need more investments but they are heading in the right direction. Also nothing is confirmed for the indoor ride we have no clue if its family or thrill as we can’t see it. I like all of our parks for what they are. I was willing to believe this for a bit until you started talking about loving the prelift sections...is this rage bait? For people (like me) who prefer positive Gs over airtime, inversions are almost necessity. Without them, every non-airtime-focused coaster would just be a Giovanola hyper.

  • @Q4Coasters
    @Q4Coasters11 күн бұрын

    @@xarq0n No haha not rage bait at all! Prelift sections can also contain inversions and intense sections it’s not always tame. Saw the ride at thorpe park has a pretty intense indoor dark section that makes it very interesting! I love positive G force but you can gain that from lots of different elements. Inversion spam like the smiler lacks in force because of the amount it inverts. 4-5 inversions is the sweet spot for rollercoasters imo but of course you are entitled to your own opinion! :D
