Sweeney is an awesome Accomplished musician! My husband had the pleasure of singing Redemption Song with Sweeney in Jamaica…multiple times

The only Jamaican guitarist that could play rhythm and lead guitar simultaneously for sevaral decades, and he was able to do this from 1960 - 2022. My his soul Rest in Zion for the great reggae music he made that he never got credit for in his own country. 😢

Hey David, I made this video twelve years ago, in tribute to my dad's uncle on behalf of my dad. He made this song when I was little and never released it. R.I.P. Uncle Oscar Williams, Aunty Lorna Williams, and last but not least Sweeney Williams. 😔 kzread.info/dash/bejne/eHuTxLGdZ92omJs.htmlsi=_3lePWuszWA__lBP

Thank you for this David. I pray it will happen someday, even though he didn't live to see it, hopefully I will. He was so humble about his gift. He was the only Jamaican guitarist that could play all forms of guitar and on an international level, not just reggae. First Jamaican guitarist to play with his teeth like Jimi Hendrix, first guitarist to put wahwah sounds on reggae music long before Bob Marley and The Wailers. When my dad was playing reggae, Bob was still doing Ska and they were great fjmriends) friends too. Few of the great legends still live, we're losing them one by one, and these etojng kids can't play reggae like they did. The top three guitarists from Jamaica are: Ernest Ranglin, Earl "Chinna" Smith, and last but not least, my dad Sweeney Williams, hands down. That bubble sound of the guitar in the old reggae songs was his work in the studios, now young guitarists are trying to play that bubble sound and most of them don't even know who created that sound in reggae guitars. It saddens me that he was never given the credit he was due by the Jamaican government after he'd given so much to the culture.
