  Thanks! My dad had a Navajo and crossed polarity and let smoke out in 80s. So in 1999 I bought him this Cherokee and we got a few good contacts in the solar cycle peak on it! Those Eagles are really nice!

  In the UK it used to be like that in the early eighties. But as time went by and internet arrived, things are really quiet across the bands now. Real shame.

  You know I have been a ham for 30 years, and I can remember in the FCC rules you're not supposed to discuss politics religion or anything that can anger anyone or start an argument. But that's all 75 m is a bunch of old men bitching and complaining about politics when they know absolutely nothing. All they do is listen to the same crap over and over being repeated on newsmax and fox noise and all that crap. But my point is you're not supposed to talk about that on the radio that's what angers people that's what starts fights and I think the FCC should start to fine people. And the argument well what about Free speech? well yeah you don't exactly have free speech on amateur radio there are rules and you must abide by them these guys are the lowest of the low of hams 75 m is the lids band and in my 30 years of operation I have never ran 75 meters nor will I ever. If I want to talk to a bunch of morons I'll just get on channel 19 on the CB. But the difference is the people on channel 19 will be a lot nicer than these idiots. If you look up part 97 rules and regulations you are not supposed to talk about politics religion anything that could be divisive or start an argument just to reiterate my statement.   Kinda strange, ive been hearing a strange noise on 39 and 40lsb much lately.its kinda sounds a bit eerie,similiar to a pipe organ or blowing across a bottle opening in a cathedral church.i hear it in late evenings.🙂73s 766pa.

  Every now and then, I'll listen on the CB channels just to hear what's going on out there. Usually, 30 seconds of listening to that nonsense is enough to make me go back to the ham frequencies where some sanity can be found.

  Ch 38 is a serious cartoon channel where I live in California. 95% of the time I avoid that channel

  I rarely hear truckers anymore, and the ones that do have radios are on other channels. We have to get loads of rocks and road base and the drivers told me the channel they are on so we can talk without any of us getting out of trucks and equipment.

  Anyone who’d do business with that con artist, deserves what they get! He’s not an authorized Stryker dealer, and they won’t ship radios to him, because of all the people he’s ripped off over the years!!!

  You need an antenna with a low angle of radiation and at least 200 to 300 watts SSB/Minimum.

  a 5/8 long vertical antenna, those have the lowest take of angle. grounding is important, that increases reception alot.

Haven't been able to make much contact out here but I get out periodically in the evening to give a shout out to anybody with a good set of ears and an antenna. Copy that & subscribed too.
