Had this surgery about 15 years ago at age 38. Rehabbed like a pro athlete and my ankle ended up good as new!
I'm going to have this surgery soon. I broke both of my ankles 3 months ago, had ORIF on the right ankle, but the left was an avulsion fracture with 5th metatarsal break and complete tear of talofibular ligament, but we didn't know my ligaments wear torn until a week ago, bc I've spent the last 10 weeks healing from fibula break. How was your pain? I'm 38.
@@britdorman Yours sounds more severe than mine. With mine, the pain wasn't bad at all. I dropped the pain meds after 2 days.
@@tomgutierrez Ok, that's not bad. I only needed my pain meds for about 4 days after my ORIF surgery.
i have been diagnosed by orthopaedic with ATFL and CFL Tear D after my three weeks sprained ankle. Does it need a surgery? I've completely no idea about this, in the next 2 days i will go for MRI. Hope it's all okay😢
Just 2 quick questions, how long were you in PT after surgery and what was your total recovery time before your ankle was good as new.
Thx
Great! Now now show it with a 300 pound person! Lol
I had this done when I was in 10th grade I tore ligaments nd tendons in basketball practice like a week into school lol and ended up having surgery and was in a wheel chair up my whole 10th grade year with my leg rest nd leg sticking straight up
after 3 weeks i Just got my stitches removed & my doctor suggested i dont need any physical therapy instead Suggested i buy a elastic mcdavid brace for my ankle And he would like to see me in a week... Should i still consider the PT ?
👏👏👏👏👏👏
I recently had the Bostrom procedure performed in order to repair a complete tear of the ATFL, bone spurs and another partial ligament tear. My surgery was last Monday, everything went well following the procedure until day 6. The Sunday following the procedure I was moving through the house and my crutch caught something, I lost my balance and momentarily placed ALL my weight on the toes of the operated foot while falling backwards. I don't believe I twisted or pivoted, there was not cracking, popping or snapping, but I did immediately feel pain (mostly burning) over the top of my foot. The night I tripped and the following day my pain had significantly increased. Today it has mostly subsided however, it still hurts more than it did all the way up until I tripped. My question is, what can happen if someone puts their entire body weight on the toes of their operated foot days after surgery? Realistically, what is likely to happen?
I had this procedure and I can say it was not helpful. 3 months after I am still in the same agony that you are having and you know what I mean. Do not seek a Podiatrist. Go see Orthopedic Surgeons. I implore you. I am a veteran who never took care of her life long multiple ankle sprains, strains, falls, back pain because I was too busy putting other first. I was an avid athlete, track, hurdles, gymnastics, soccer, cheer, swim (I sprained my ankle at a swim meet while swimming like wtf?) in 2018 I was given a diagnosis of Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction. Look that up, Flat Feet! You cannot fix that but with rest. Ever step is sacrosanct. Also pregnancy was killer as a women's hips spread I developed sciatica. Excruciating. My ex would give me hell for complaining all the time and NEVER once thought I should take some time off my feet. We had marathon vacations where we were forced to endure theme parks and you know my favorite ride was the bench! Dear lord! I am still in agony. They can only do one foot at a time. I also got plasma injections. I found out those only work if you don't have arthritis!!! Guess who had that at age 30? I'm 40 now! Does any of this resonate with you. I have been told this is RDS which is also known as CRPS. Look it up. I am still refusing this diagnosis as I want to get better yet chop my feet off at the same time.
Where can I get this treatment?
Why does he have a full surgical gown on whole putting the table together? What's the point?...
Where is the blood?
After this procedure you will not be the same again, because your mobility is not the same.
i disagree. After rehab I was back in the gym and now after a yr Im lifting weights just as I was 20 yrs ago. No more bicep tendonitis!

Thank you...

I may have to get this done. Probably shouldn't watch this but it's too. late now
I needed to see this. Complaining of lateral ankle pain for years. Mild hemiplegic. In and out of physical therapy.Last year had multiple talus fracture, torn ligaments, tendons and multiple sprains. No notable injury. In aircast for 9 weeks. Currently in an AFO. Can not walk in grass without AFO. This surgery seems to be the puzzle piece and I am curious if it would help me and potential alleviate my pain and get me out of the AFO.
Is it necessary with broken ankle bones, to use Fibula each time? I can see several ways to repair to make that unnecessary. Cutting Fibula seems like overkill.
Having this surgery soon. Probably shouldn't have watched this but my curiosity was to much 😅
Haha good luck tho
@@theboss7930 thank you 😅😂
Same here!! Update on how it goes! I’m due soon to sign my surgery documents!
@@MsSamStudent good luck!! Hope it goes well for you!!
Word to the Wise. Educate yourself and ask intelligent questions, especially so if they are cutting the Fibula.
How long does surgery take
Roughly around 2-3 hours, and they say you're likely to go home the same day after surgery with crutches, or a boot.

@@jeancater1388 How was the rehab?
I’ve played baseball for 50 years, I tore my labrum and rotator cuff in an accident at work, they sent me to have surgery (I couldn’t choose my surgeon, had to use who they appointed for me). Dr. did a bicep tenodesis assuring me I’d be better. I’m worse than before surgery. I can’t even throw a ball anymore and the pain is also worse. He told me to live with the pain. Wish I never had surgery, at least not from that incompetent doctor.
I ruptured my proximal bicep tendon 7 months ago. I rehabbed it without surgery and I’m am at 90 percent of my previous strength. It’s cosmetically different and I can live with that. Glad I didn’t do it. Long term studies show re- rupturing, fractures where the screw is imbedded and nerve damage. No thanks.
@@SAVEAMERICA-cf6kf did you have the pain at top front of shoulder before surgery? Where did you have the new pain after the surgery?

nice model
The worst pain I've ever been in in my entire life was after having shoulder surgery! I was told there was a 95% chance it would work and so I had it done! Did not work and is still not fixed 20 years later! I just deal with the pain on a daily basis.
Used this for the first time yesterday, it was an impressive piece of kit, but more comprehensive training is needed. Get rid of your background music, driving me mad on all of your videos! Just a thought
Excellent !! I needed this video for teaching the nurses
If you have this is surgery always required?
This is what I need to know! Thanks for uploading.
