Would the color or black&white version (without backlight) be better for online university? I will use my laptop for the occasional video call, maybe once per month. I’m concerned about the contrast and readability between the 2. Worried that the color will be more difficult to read and cause a different form of eyestrain, due to not getting the backlight. If u don't need color then go with the black n white version as it has more resolution, more PPI. So things are clearer and sharper. Also dasung provides little to no customer support. So keep that in mind. There are alternative by boox and bigme. Also hannspree will release rlcd monitors soon

Agreed. When I first got interested into e-readers I was surprised that the "standard" size was so small. 9 inch is the most similar size to a regular physical book, but smh that counts as big in the e-reader world.

yeah you're right. boox leaf 2 < boox leaf 1. I once bought leaf 2 and have to sell it. nothing's breakthrough. they change screen size, cpu, ram ... and boom and a product comes out.

Yea. They do that quite often. But this one is quite different from the air series though. It's lighter and thinner. And the first inthink without a frontlight and the first with 300 PPI that's not a color device. This one probably has best screen out of all their devices

A9 doesn't have MicroSD card slot btw, also you there is 3 different storage size options depending on whether u get the 4GB, 6GB OR 8GB ram model cant remember the storage sizes but they go up for each version 8GB one being called PRO though but the ram and storage space are the only differences.

@@muhammadferdiansaputra9761 I think the point is that a backlight creates one further layer between the e-ink layer and the protective layer on top: once u put a pen on the surface the distance between the pen and the writable layer is larger if in the middle you have an extra layer. I am not sure how this difference hinders your writing experience but it's a commercial choice: they obviously based this choice on figures we do not have. For sure scribe is backlit, it is super sharp and clear and the writing experience feels quite good. It's not Kaleido 3 and I suppose each colour is on a different layer so that also makes a difference but I mean the kobo kaleido 3 is backlit right? Obviously if production costs go up the profit goes down .. I mean I can only give my consumer perspective: I would never buy an unlit device as I am like most people, I work during the day and read in the evening. I guess I am not the target and this is aimed at (rich) students.

Update: Boox made a little mistake in sending me the dimensions. It's actually- 235*183*4.6mm (9.3" x 7.2" x 0.18") and weighs 375 grams. Still impressive though

The absence of frontlight is a big deal for me
I guess it differs from person to person. I'd actually want it like this since I don't even use frontlight. I only need frontlight for color eink
@@epaper_eink I have a boox page and I use it indoors with almost 50% frontlights. I am waiting for Note Air 3+ with 300 ppi and with frontlights and sdcard slot.

Update: Boox made a little mistake in sending me the dimensions. It's actually- 235*183*4.6mm (9.3" x 7.2" x 0.18") and weighs 375 grams. Still impressive though

How is the black and white mode in outdoor use? How does that compare to rlcd?
It's not good. Rlcd and eink is better. I have to crank the brightness all the way to see stuff

@@omolongmo I think initially they listed it as 264g and then changed it to 310g. Some sites like bhphotovideo still list it as 264g. Similar thing happened to me when they sent me specs of the go103 prior to release
