Tennessee Aquarium

Tennessee Aquarium

Dive into two worlds of wonder and excitement. Begin with the freshwater exhibits housed in the River Journey building. Watch river otters playing in a cove forest. An alligator and giant snapping turtle will thrill in a delta swamp. Gaze in awe at fantastic seahorses and seadragons.

The adventure continues in the Ocean Journey building. Explore the chilly world of Penguins Rock, the home of amazing gentoo and macaroni penguins. Big toothy sharks and thousands of colorful reef fish swirl all around an impressive reef. Delight as a multitude of beautiful butterflies flutter throughout a tropical garden. Reach out and touch a shark or ray. Get up close to wonders of nature above and below the water. Experience two aquariums in one great city - Chattanooga.

Nice Tennessee Snubnose darter in the video! We just caught some of those in White Pine back in May of 2024. Wonderful program. I was able to do a couple programs like this when I was teaching.

Ummm... You are perpetuating the myth that they are from a desert!!! They aren't! They live in a variety of areas! They have wet seasons! Please stop spreading these myths. The areas are arrid at times, but it is NOT a desert!

Good point! We didn't exactly cover that well in the description, did we? Sturgeon are what scientists call "living fossils," owing to their relatively unchanged physiology since first appearing in the fossil record during the Jurassic Period (145-200 million years ago). Put another way, these little guys' ancestors were swimming around on earth at the same time as Archaeopteryx, Brontosaurus, Stegosaurus, etc.!

“The best thing you can do is take a picture and notify your local wildlife agency.” No sir, pictures and phone calls do not mitigate the damage to an ecosystem from an invasive species. Public conservation, however, can be quite effective.

So confirming the species, marking the location of the animal and alerting authority isn't a vital part of conservation? Are you dense?

ok so a dragon was just given to me and i ordered live mealworms for him to eat. they also gave me a broken bulb so currently he’s in 70 degrees. is he gonna be ok if he has to wait a week or two for those things? the light for warmth. I’ve been taking him outside to get some sun almost every day but he seems to get easily stressed so we do it little bits at a time.
