Wrong should start riveting from the centre otherwise you will get gaps between the lining and shoe and and not have proper contact between the lining and drum and a spongy pedal

Thank you,...I have loose linings on the rear of my old TR3 sportscar.....Now I know I can re-hammer the rivets to tighten them up and get rid of the slack....The linings are hardly worn.....I have owned the car over 52 years and always do my own repairs.....John (west coast, Canada)

I really like this video. I found this short video interesting for two reasons: -1- Simply using a piece of round shafting as the ram -2- Forming a piece of steel around an existing threaded shaft to form a nut. Sure, there may be some issues with getting the “nut” off the shaft if it cools too much, and you’d probably need to weld up the joint, but hey; if that shaft is acme or square thread, why not give it a try?????
