    I would have been perfectly happy with Inquisition 2.0, just with the next chapter in the story, but this? This has just been devastating to watch. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I really agree that it feels like veilguard lost that soul.

    from what i've put together from various bits and a hefty dose of fanlore, the Konpeki heist was a culmination of lots of intersecting plans, Netwatch, the Voodoo Boys, Alt Cunningham, and Yorinobu. Dex actually only plays a small role in it. It starts more or less with Alt Cunningham and the Blackwall, she's the only known human to transfer themselves fully into being an AI behind the Blackwall, the VDB's think a cataclysmic event is coming and want to repeat the trick, moving all of them into cyberspace. Netwatch is extremely against this happening as a breach of the Blackwall on this scale could tear it asunder completely, letting the destructive AI behind the wall out onto the net. Netwatch knows the VDBs want to get into contact with Alt, Netwatch is very interested in capturing her for obvious reasons, they also know Arasaka has an engram of Johnny Silverhand. they contact Yorinobu and offer to buy a copy of that engram, with the intention of using it to bait Alt and therefore the Voodoo Boys into a trap. Yorinobu, dissatisfied with his father's rule of the company and knowing of his particular interest in the relic, has Helman steal the prototype. the VDBs get word (possibly deliberately leaked by Netwatch) that Yorinobu has the JS engram on the relic, and by tracking his activities find out he frequents Clouds often and always with the same doll. this is where Evelyn enters the picture, as the VDBs offer her a huge payout to steal the relic from Yorinobu. It is Evelyn who hires Dex to put together a team, with Dex having no idea of the other players. Saburo turning up in Night City threw a wrench in everything, Jackie and V make off with the relic. in the chaos of Saburo's death, Netwatch loses track of the relic. Yorinobu, now in (mostly) full control of Arasaka, is no longer interested in the relic. he sends Takemura to track down V more to silence anyone who could conflict with his version of events, and then sends assassins to kill Takemura after he confirms that "Sabura's killers" were dead.

    I sometimes wonder how many gangoons would mess with V if they could see our stats. Everyone thinks they're hard with a bc of 20 or 30, but staring down a fully chipped Edgerunner with 5000 kills in just the last month might paint some streets brown.

    I wonder if both dex and tbug were supposed to be alive and hunting them down was part of the quest. Find dex only to find bug had double crossed him, then find bug which leads you into the vdbs. And maybe this was changed due to the similarity to fallout new vegas? Courier/merc is shot in the head for a “chip” only to come back from the grave to hunt them down. Even with dex dying early there’s still a taste of it. Different worlds and following stories of course but the base is very similar

    Evelyn's plan was actually pretty perfect, but you can't plan for complete unknowns like the sudden visit from Saburo or even more especially his murder at the hands of Yorinobu. If not for that they would've been in and out and on to the Afterlife.

    Cyberpunk was not rushed to market, they managed development time poorly. I love the game, don't get me wrong, even before the DLC and most recent updates I had at least 10 playthoughs with hundreds of hours each, but their late stage cuts and poor launch were entirely their own fault.

    I actually enjoyed all 3 Dragon Age games. 2 was a bit of a misstep away from the strategy focused gameplay but DA:I brought it back and then some. The story for all 3 games was great, especially DA:2. Everyone is so quick to "worry" about Veilguard for the clicks.

    Do I feel sorry for her? Yes. It doesn't change a fact she brought it on herself. No one forced her to betray Yorinobu, VDB and Dex (she shouldn't even come close to VDB at all). She was playing with fire and got burned together with almost everyone involved.

    I agree that Dragon Age has been incrementally losing its soul, but I will respectfully disagree with you thatDA2 was the poorest of the presentations because I felt it was much more developed, fleshed out, and meaningful than Inquisition. If Origins was two miles and two miles deep, in terms of breadth and depth of setting, characters, and story; then for me DA2 was 1/2 mile wide, but three miles deep; whereas Inquisition was five miles wide and 3 feet deep. DA2 has a special place in my heart for being the most evocative of the three games to date, bringing me to the state of tears at its conclusion. I had been a fan of Bioware games since the original Baldur's Gate, and DA2 brought me back to that feeling of immersion and roleplay that I felt back at the start of the CRPG revolution back then. For me, this is why one of the reasons why BG3 rung a bell I hadn't felt for a long time. It's still not as faithful to the setting and lore that I hold dear to me, for as you said 'that's why people feel so passionately about characters that aren't even real." And the corporate changes that Hasbro/WOTC made to the original stories and setting sometimes felt like a hollow shell of the originals in BG3, but at least Larian understood that the story and characters of BG3 still needed to feel internally consistently and faithful to the spirit of the overall greater story. It wasn't BG1 or BG2, but it felt like the child of a dear departed friend, in whose face and eyes I could see the memory of someone I once loved. That's something I very much appreciated. It's also the reason why Veilguard feels... 'wrong' to me, and I have this sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach when I watched the trailer, the gameplay reveal, and read their promo articles. It's as if am looking at the corpse of a dear friend that has been violated and raised from beyond the grave, shambling and stumbling, flailing about with its limbs in a desperate effort to seize life and cling to it from beyond the grave. I have grave fears and doubts about Veilguard and it's because I was burned before with Inquisition, with Andromeda, and this is giving me the same sense of deja-vu.

    It's important to remember that while Bioware the company still exists, Bioware the team that made mass effect and dragon age origins doesn't anymore, those people that made those games great have gone their separate ways and are doing their own things now. A game company is only as good as the people that make up the team and unfortunately EA's business practices tend to drive the creative talent out of a company eventually

    I also think t-bug was meant to betray V and Jackie like in the cinematic trailer but a part of me second guesses the theory as well. There's a number of quickhacks she could of used to kill V in that moment (synapse burnout, suicide, etc) but instead she uses a non-lethal hack to try and stop him instead, so maybe she was just as surprised by the betrayal as V was.

    Wait, why is Becca approaching David more than once not sexual assault (even when she approaches him with her crotch before him, crawling), but Pilar does sexual assault to Lucy? Sister, the double standards are fully on display. Also, if Pilar’s gross, how Becca not too? She jacks off a stranger and walks around with her cheeks hanging out.

  • @JosephMichael23
    @JosephMichael23Күн бұрын

    Calling what Pilar does as “sexual assault” is wild. Please dont apply modern lens to a cyberpunk setting. And implying that Lucy’s fine with Pilar’s death portrays her as an insensitive bitch; the while cree liked one another as friends, at the very least.

    It’s really sad to think that if he kept the biochip in his head, it probably would’ve reacted and you would have to handle a Jackie/Johnny as the engram would try to write itself over Jackie’s mind instead of V….but I feel like that would be a worse moment because Jackie would slowly be taken over by Johnny I feel like as comparison to how the Johnny/V dynamic is.

    great video and you had me all the way until "the end of phantom liberty is one of the most meaningful" because nah, choom... the new ending was made by some gonks who did not have a clue what the point of cyberpunk even is. With those endings they all lead to a humanity score of zero in the end game which would lead to a full cyberpsycho V no matter what. Those are the rules of the universe in which we are playing in. I can't give any credence to what was written for the PL ending because its pure fanfiction nonsense that does not and cannot work in universe.

    The lack of columbarium niche is fitting for a lonesome character like her. Feels like, the only people, who remembers her is V and that Kabuki seller, both being just colleagues, nothing more. Sad, but logical

    Idk Judy has always been my least favorite side character unless I’m playing a female V. Her friendship with make V seems forced at best. I think she was MEANT to be a romantic interest for female V and they sort of didn’t care about her relationship with male V.

    Call me crazy but I think Yorinobu was behind the heist. I think he needed to move or sell the relic but knew he couldn’t even blink without his father knowing. I think he did the right things and said the right things to the right people so that it would cause a cascade of seemingly random events that would get the relic where it needed to go in a “the left hand never knows what the right is doing” type of way. It would be the only way to stay ahead of Saburo. Everything would have worked out for him because he gets the relic moved with nothing to lead back to him, the heist makes a good red herring for Saburo to distract him from Yorinobu’s takeover plot, and he gets the satisfaction of outsmarting Saburo by pretending to be the reckless fool his father always thought he was. One of the biggest reasons for this theory is that V registers as detected by Smasher. I don’t think this was an oversight. I think he would have had infrared vision or something based on what is known about him. I also think he’s somehow integrated into the security system, so he would have known if there was any tampering what so ever. When Yorinobu snapped, I think he figured he would never get a chance like that again and he could put an end to all of his problems right then and there and still be the winner in their father/son feud. There would be no witnesses, and he knew his pawns had to still be somewhere in the building to take the blame. There’s no other way he could have the audacity to be the only one in the room with Saburo, and think he could still get away with it unless he KNEW there was someone readily available to take the blame.
