@@eggyfits Thank you once again for getting back to me !! Okay so have learn’t a bit more about carpet fitting since last week - the problems I was having were as follows: 1. Carpet was not gripping to gripper : cause plush walk 12mm underlay was too high for grippers 2. Carpet was not gripping to gripper, other possible cause - woven back (sisal) a.k.a no bother sisal Solutions: 1 . Raise gripper with 5.5mm plywood strips to get gripper (wood) level with underlay 2. Double bank the gripper ( to rows of gripper side by side) So I think the puzzle should be solved now - thank you once again for your input and your part helping get closer to an answer

Oh one other thing I should mention (no Bother sisal ) produced by alternative flooring, boast’s this product can be laid like conventional carpet. The reason I was doubting it, was as follows: 1. The company gives no clues how to lay it, or what supporting parts to use ( gripper, underlay) they force you into a supply and fit situation through your local dealer of the product 2. I thought some parts or the fit, maybe like the double stick method 3. the woven back sisal is as tuff as old boots 🥾 which makes you think is it possible
