I have come to believe that women have a great advantage in street photography, as they appear less threatening than men. Also, people are more willing to act hostile to men.

I have this camera and always struggle with not having higher shutter speeds. I love shooting outdoor portraits but am forced to stop down to f11 or smaller. Great camera otherwise.

Getting tired of all these misleading titles, it’s not Vivian’s camera at all. Why not just be truthful and say Rolliflex the camera Vivian Maier used.

I have been looking and looking for the original Hockey Night in Canada theme, The Saturday Game, by Howard Cable. It is just not on the Internet. It was used from 1952-68, and has not been heard since. At least we have this closing theme, which brings back childhood memories.

The best game ever invented. EVER, as far as I'm concerned. Damn, I wish I still had the one my brothers and I had countless hours of fun playing when we were kids. Even into our teenage years.

The title of this video is ‘Vivian Maier’s Rolleiflex Camera’. A deceptive title suggesting that the camera in the video was used by Vivian. Clip bait titles detract from quality of a video. 👎

I agree, quite tired of it actually, I think their videos should be automatically pulled if the title is misleading, like this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. The beauty of a Rolleiflex negative, black and white and color, is that it can be cropped vertically or horizontally. It doesn't have to be displayed in a square format. The same can't be said of rectangular negatives, particularly 35mm negatives. Only so much can be cropped out of a small negative before it loses sharpness, compared to larger negatives. It does appear VM usually wanted to stay within the confines of the square format, especially since she didn't seem interested interested in making prints or even developing all of her film. The process of finding a subject, composing the photo and releasing the shutter was probably more important to her than seeing the finished photo.

Mine is an occupation 3.5 camera. Rolleiflex built cameras for american GI's while Germany was building Messerschmidts and shooting FLAK. It is an utterly comfortable camera to use.

Your statements on 0:56 are incorrect and should be redacted and corrected. The word ''reflex'' refers to the mirror used behind the viewing lens that redirects the image-forming light onto a focusing screen. Do you research and do not talk about subjects you have no good understanding about.

She was deeply moving. What I find extraordinary is that she retained her innocence, her child-like purity in the face of great hardship. I'm sure she'd been mocked and often ill-treated. She had to endure lifelong arthritis and poverty. Yet there are no shadows, no intimations of darkness in her paintings. And I don't sense repression or denial on her part. She was simply pure, a beautiful soul, without an iota of rancor or bitterness. How many people do you know who, not even suffering half her hardships, are still embittered or angry or carry some residue of resentment? I'm certainly one of them. In fact, a lot could be going for some of them, and yet they're still irked by something or other. Not only do Maude's paintings deserve worldwide recognition, but I think some church in Canada should also declare her a saint. How about "St. Maude of Nova Scotia"? I'm serious. Had she been born in India, say, she almost certainly would have been accorded a similar honor.

It's a pity that most of these kind of pictures are legally that much challenged right now and put into at least into a grey area, if not out-rightly forbidden, that most photographers abstain from publishing them if they are taking them at all nevertheless. Archaeologists in a few hundred years will be wondering what happened to the children in our time, since they mostly disappeared from our photographs.
