Im a developer and did some gig work on the sidelines on Fiver. I had the opportunity last year to work with a us based company for about 5 months. Created some integration pieces and powerBi reports for them. They offered me $50 an hour and worked about 6 hours a evening, got paid fortnightly. Man I tell you it was amazing but sad at the same time. I was "cheap labour" for them regarding my skills but converted to Rands, I would not get that in SA. If you can get a permanent position for a foreign company based in SA, you'd be set for a good while, even after tax you's still have way more than a monthly salary offered in SA and because you'd be a provisional tax payer, you have more control over your tax affairs. There are LOADS of work outside. Goodluck.

@MkhanyisiMadlavana2 күн бұрын
i think by 'graduate salary for 8 years, just getting increases' mean that 8 years ago they got a job there via the 'graduate recruitment programme' (aka graduate trainee, or fancy way of saying 'internship'). so instead of getting the salary significantly changed after finishing the graduate recruitment/internship they got the usual salary increase (typically 5% to 15% depending on company, inflation and performance of individual) year on year for 8 years straight. Hence with 8 years of experience the salary might be lower because they chose to stay with the same employer who did no drastically change their salary. Now new graduate recruitment guys and this person earn around the same money while this one has 8 years of experience. thats just my take on what is meant.
