As a Portuguese, i would advice to take extra awaraness in our roads, while driving or cycling. Portuguese drivers are reckless. And its totally ok to eat your hands wtf

Portugal is reliving the 70s, sex drugs and rock and roll, our secret police are expecting a rise in drug consuptiom, our NHS is expeting a rise in STDs 😢

Bureaucracy is simply bribery and that’s the third world way of business. Who you know and who you are how wealthy and what you do trust me you can get away with murder in any 3rd world country. For us Americans that apply also to politicians and wealthy ah😅Les

It’s so unfair to compare America to Europe considering that one of our states is bigger than your entire continent.

As it turns out, my husband and I will be moving from Philadelphia to Porto and settling into our apartment in the Bonfim neighborhood in late July. We have been planning this for nearly two years and cannot wait to make Porto our new home.

"and nobody can understand what the people of Azores are talking about" LOL! It's true! I was born in Flores and can still understand pretty well the Portuguese spoken there but I find other island 'dialects' difficult to understand. A friend's mother was from another island .. São Jorge .. I couldn't make heads or tails of what she was saying! People on the mainland could definitely tell I wasn't from the mainland.

Portugal is definitely more dangerous that stated in these safety indexes. A lot comes down to unreported crimes of aggression and threats because our civil security sucks. If you're in an emergency and you call 112 they'll just tell you to call your local police office which more than likely you dont even know the number. If you do call your police office, theyll either shrug it off or tell you to call this other police office that in turn will tell you to call the police office you just called and it's just pointless.

Porto is not the best city in Europe. It's a city where its natives can't rent or buy a house and more and more people ARE LIVING ON THE STREET. Please stop making these videos! It's very selfish and irresponsible to continue advertising Portugal as a good place to live. Please stop.

Congratulations! Welcome to the club. Was mugged in Seville, Coimbra and Lisbon. Had a friend jumped and beaten up in Bairro Alto, Lisbon, the same night I told him to be careful in Bairro Alto. He didn't listen. It's important to mention who did the mugging, because certain modern sensitivities will shame your spidey sense for being racist when all it is is good sense. In Seville, I was mugged by three Gypsies on a scooter. In Coimbra, it was two Gypsies right in front of the Sé Velha. I had met one of them in a bar earlier and had a rather pleasant conversation. Short while later, same guy had a gun in my face. In Lisbon, in deepest darkest Bairro Alto, it was a white and black dynamic duo, with another gun in my face. Never got a black eye or bloody nose, though. Just threw my money at them and managed to talk my way out of a beating. When you travel, don't be drunk and alone after midnight. Doing that puts a big fat target on your back. As for Portugal being safe...it is. Lisbon and Porto were more dangerous 20 or so years ago. However, just today, watched a report on how muggings have spiked in the Anjos bairro of Lisbon, where I lived for several years. Migrants have moved in and set up tent colonies, and now crime has returned to the streets of Lisbon. It is what it is, folks. Be careful out there, and hopefully this isn't an omen of bad things to come in Portugal 🇵🇹 with regards to street crime.

People say that European’s are very rude, but it’s quite the opposite. If you don’t take the time to learn a bit of the language of the place you’re visiting, as well as its mannerisms then you shouldn’t visit

Go to Portugal 🇵🇹, and you will discover at least one thing that will be the best you ever had. Coffee, pastries, soups, chicken, pork, fish, octopus, wine, cheese, bread, something. The best kept secret is a dish I've never seen mentioned in a YT vlog...salmão grelhado or grilled salmon. You can find salmão grelhado in any marisqueira and in many tascas. The best damn salmon on the planet.

Fact is - working from home during Covid started the idea that "home" could actually be anywhere in the world". Those IT workers (Microsoft, Google, Amazon) who are in the high-income category and already not living in their home countries found Portugal's Golden Visa program attractive. Buying a Condo for $ 500K + allowed them to live in Portugal or at least show up annual for a short time and after 5 years apply for Portuguese citizenship. And - as a side product - having access to the entire EU market. Yes, there are Americans - mainly those who follow peer pressure to be part of the "group" - but the majority of the investors are Chinese - not interested in Portugal as such but to them it is the golden key to do business in the EU.

For point #1 - feel free to buy ginja that the women sell on the streets in Alfama. In some cases it is homemade, and is cheaper and tastier than what you can buy in the regular places!
