    ...our Chinaberry tree was originally identified by my iphone 13 as a "queen's wreath", now, the iPhone is identifying as a chinaberry tree/lilac/Persian tree. Nonetheless, it's beautiful! We'll prune it to be an umbrella tree as seen in other YT videos.

    Bromeliads are AMAZING! Please keep in mind that, not all bromeliads are epiphytic… some are terrestrial ( needing to be in ground or medium)and some are lithophitc( rock dwellers)…just saying… 😊 …the pineapple is one that is terrestrial.

    I'm in zone 9a in Navarre, FL and would like to plant these along my fence as a privacy screen. How far from the fence should they be planted? Can they be contained to only 12'-15' in height outdoors?

  • @BManStan1991

    The only fishtail palm that would grow in 9a would be caryota gigas. It is a large palm that looks like the queen palm and as such cannot be trimmed like a hedge. The clumping fishtail palm shown here would likely die in 9a unless planted under large trees for frost protection.

  • @BManStan1991
    @BManStan19916 ай бұрын

    However raphis humilis (the lady palm) is a beautiful tropical clumping palm that makes a great hedge and can survive in 9a. Look it up 😄

    I just bought a little palm with tons of exposed roots. It was the only one of its kind on the display in my local grocery store, along with Ponytail Palms, and another type that had semi-exposed, fuzzy, bulbous, roots. It wasn't labeled but it has roots growing everywhere, climbing out of the pot, similar to an orchid. I loved it, love plants, & have had a ponytail palm for 13 years. It seemed different & was the only one of its kind there, so I had to get it. Any idea what kind it is or do you have any tips to help me find an exact identification for it?

    John I have a patio here in Lake Charles, LA similar to yours in s.Florida except we have a few light frosts and an occasional freeze of 28-32 degrees. When that happens, I just scoot them into nearby heated room for the night. I have one GIANT of a plant, the "Traveler's Palm" in a terra cotta pot reaching up to around 6' so far. I also have a small (Stretitzia reginae with 3 clumps in a large "grower's pot" a black vinyl nursery pot that it's been in seen I bought it about 2 years ago. I have all sorts of tropicals and succulents I think you'd like. Send me some questions you have and I'll try to respond. 🪴🌴

    Areca palms are slow to moderate growers and used for sun shade and can reach heights of 15 to 20 feet. They're wider at the top sometimes 8 to 10 feet or more in diameter so allow enough room for the palm to grow a tropical canopy over nearby plants.
