...our Chinaberry tree was originally identified by my iphone 13 as a "queen's wreath", now, the iPhone is identifying as a chinaberry tree/lilac/Persian tree. Nonetheless, it's beautiful! We'll prune it to be an umbrella tree as seen in other YT videos.
My grandma is from Thailand, I’m growing these in her honor. Thank you for the tips!
These plants are gorgeous 😍
Hi John, I never heard from Flamingo Gardens about the Dessert Cassia 🥲
John, your camera person doesn't show us the plants that you're talking about, we only see you. 😂
What kind of fertilizer do you use on the Bougainvilleas. The video was very informative.
i love people who wear fun socks. They are intresting people with intresting hobbies
🥴before: bromeliads=lush jungle Paradise Now: Bromeliads=ugly Florida landscaping design 😭
They look like little snake scales beautiful
You didn’t say what fertilizer you use. I need to know I guess I’ll look elsewhere.
I use Nutricote 18-6-8 from Florikan.

Great info, thanks John!
You bet!
@@johntheplantguy4694 yea, great info indeed! The name of the video is Queen Wreat vines, so that is why I clicked it! Thank you!
Great video! How often should I water my bougainvilleas here in South Florida? Every week or two weeks? And when do I know when it's time to prune the whole tree?
Hi! Deep watering 10 days +|- After the bracts (color) turn brown/ papery looking, we should prune and feed!! Hope this helps!! Let me know your results. Send pictures.
Rats love to nest in these.
Bromeliads are AMAZING! Please keep in mind that, not all bromeliads are epiphytic… some are terrestrial ( needing to be in ground or medium)and some are lithophitc( rock dwellers)…just saying… 😊 …the pineapple is one that is terrestrial.
Thanks John, I have learnt so much from this video, what beautiful colors..Can you tell me what the potting soil consists of ? Thanks again
A potting soil mix( perlite and/or vermiculite added). This provides good drainage. Appreciate you subscribing !!
Where is that ?
This is Sunshine Bromeliads. Terrific selections as well as some unique specimens. 7100 SW 148th Ave, Southwest Ranches, FL 33330
My wife and I recently had the pleasure of meeting John and must say that his enthusiasm and knowledge of plants was inspiring. We're definitely looking forward to sprucing up our garden with his support.
Love your socks
Keep the ankles from swelling! Appreciate your support. John
So happy to see you making videos again, John! I “met” you on the Let’s Grow channel and love your vast knowledge of Florida plants. (I’m close to Tampa.) Please continue to make more regular videos…I learn so much from you! Be well. 😊
Thank you for your support. Check out the Bromeliad videos. We had a lot of fun making this and Roly at Sunshine Bromeliads is AWESOME. Also, Michael at Let’s Grow is so fun to work with. We have a great chemistry together. John
Love you enthusiasm Juhn, those plants are gorgeous. I garden in Toronto Canada and would love to have these in my garden but they wouln't survive these winters. I did have a Bromeliad once but i killed it
One of my top 3 tropical plants. I started 3 years ago with about 10 plants and now have at least 40-50 they multiply like rabbits
No I have not but they are beautiful
Cat palms suck outdoors in direct light it seems.
Are these fast growers? Seems very interesting.
Queens Wreath Vines are moderate in growth. However its great because it flowers multiples times a year. Great question by the way. I have new videos in the works I hope you find them interesting please stay tuned
I'm in zone 9a in Navarre, FL and would like to plant these along my fence as a privacy screen. How far from the fence should they be planted? Can they be contained to only 12'-15' in height outdoors?
The only fishtail palm that would grow in 9a would be caryota gigas. It is a large palm that looks like the queen palm and as such cannot be trimmed like a hedge. The clumping fishtail palm shown here would likely die in 9a unless planted under large trees for frost protection.
However raphis humilis (the lady palm) is a beautiful tropical clumping palm that makes a great hedge and can survive in 9a. Look it up 😄
@@BManStan1991 sweet thanks for the info!
@mwerries my pleasure! I love palms lol.
Absolutely soothing, relaxing, beautiful, but most of all, it’s so therapeutic for your mental health.❤❤❤
I just bought a little palm with tons of exposed roots. It was the only one of its kind on the display in my local grocery store, along with Ponytail Palms, and another type that had semi-exposed, fuzzy, bulbous, roots. It wasn't labeled but it has roots growing everywhere, climbing out of the pot, similar to an orchid. I loved it, love plants, & have had a ponytail palm for 13 years. It seemed different & was the only one of its kind there, so I had to get it. Any idea what kind it is or do you have any tips to help me find an exact identification for it?
Soil which use
I want to put them along my side yard, how wide do they grow?
Oh geez how did I miss this 🤦🏽♂️? Areca palms can grow 8-10ft wide. They would be great as a barrier and privacy.
@@johntheplantguy4694 do nurseries have them this large? I want the hedge to look just like this but I don't want to wait years for them to grow. I have 2 500x1000ft plots that I'd like to hedge all around Have you heard of anyone importing mature Arecas by ship from where they grow naturally? Truly beautiful plants
@@mhxxd4 yes they sell them that big I bought 20 of them on each side of my house ,45 gallons for 280$ each in miami nursery they like 16 feet tall
Thanks for sharing, John!
If you don’t mind I’m new to this channel and I love going to flamingo nursery but my question is for the giant milkweed. What is the easiest way to replant can you get cuttings from the giant milkweed to grow new plants and how to do it where it will work successfully. Thank you so much. Deb
John I have a patio here in Lake Charles, LA similar to yours in s.Florida except we have a few light frosts and an occasional freeze of 28-32 degrees. When that happens, I just scoot them into nearby heated room for the night. I have one GIANT of a plant, the "Traveler's Palm" in a terra cotta pot reaching up to around 6' so far. I also have a small (Stretitzia reginae with 3 clumps in a large "grower's pot" a black vinyl nursery pot that it's been in seen I bought it about 2 years ago. I have all sorts of tropicals and succulents I think you'd like. Send me some questions you have and I'll try to respond. 🪴🌴
We are the proud owners of a cat palm. Some yellow spots have appeared. What should we do?
Just the video I was looking for !
🙏🏻👏👌
Which Fertilizer with Baron do you Recommend
Zone 9b?
Areca palms are slow to moderate growers and used for sun shade and can reach heights of 15 to 20 feet. They're wider at the top sometimes 8 to 10 feet or more in diameter so allow enough room for the palm to grow a tropical canopy over nearby plants.
💚
Didnt know cat palms where a thing 😮
You re amazing, John. I Learned alot from this video. Greeting from Indonesia to you. 🙏😃
Areca Palms
Is Bottle palm more tropical looking than the spindle palm ?
I think bottle palm looks more tropical then spindle

Nice sir
These are awesome! What zones can they grow in?
U have areca plam seeds sir ?
I just planted smaller new Bougainville Barbara Karst here in Southern California. It’s been 6 months, do you have any tips on how to care for the young ones? I planted them up our long driveway to create a privacy hedge. Thanks John!
Easy way to remember, especially for us newbies. Thanks John
