DIY AUDIO

Welcome to DIY AUDIO. Maybe just to inspire you to make that first speaker build. Maybe just to give you an idea of what components you need or maybe to provide some tips and advice on drivers, amplifiers etc.

Full DIY speaker builds that should be easy to follow and with all parts for the builds listed in the description. I also try and review the drivers/speakers I use in these builds to give you a little information that you can use in your decision making.

    I am interesting in replacing the original 4.5’ drivers in my bose 141s I understand I can just buy better more modern speakers but then it wouldn’t be a project would it. Do you have any recommendation’s for replacements.

  • @DIY-AUDIO
    @DIY-AUDIO2 күн бұрын

    Guess you have to decide whether to do a whole build, just replace the drivers or buy some second hand 141's. Problem with drivers is they usually need specific volumes in the cabinet to achieve their full potential! Best of luck though!! 👍

    Of the ones I've built with and reviewed, I'd say the chn-50 for small builds (it's only 7w but great little driver) or the 4 inch CHR-70 is great in the right sized cabinet for an average sized room.!

    So how do you think compares this speaker with the "Le Petit"? the one of most famous single driver speaker?

  • @DIY-AUDIO
    @DIY-AUDIOАй бұрын

    I haven't heard the 'le Petit' in action and haven't tried the Fostex driver usually used in that build. All I can say is that in my opinion the Markaudio drivers are excellent (for the money) once run in and although I like this design (the one I built here) , I personally think it's slightly over engineered as there is no resonance from the cabinet at all. Some think this is how it should be but, for a full range driver and the type of music I listen to, I personally like a little resonance (think acoustic guitar) . This may be achieved by building in Plywood as apposed to MDF though.

    Can you recommend a budget amplifier for small bookshelf speaker, planning to build one bookshelf after years

  • @DIY-AUDIO
    @DIY-AUDIOАй бұрын

    Depends what you want to achieve. A Fosi amp is going to be fairly cheap with Bluetooth. I'd look at something with a bit more connectivity tho like Arylic. You can then add your speakers to your TV and stream music (better than BT). Link herewww.arylic.com?aff=105

  • @DIY-AUDIO
    @DIY-AUDIOАй бұрын

    Must admit I don't know them. Guessing depending on wattage of your speakers you will be fine. I like the slightly warmer sound that you get with tube amp for my full range drivers. I've not tried it on two way speakers.

    Hello, would connecting a 100w subwoofer to this TPA3116 amplifier be enough, or would I have to look for a more powerful amplifier?

  • @DIY-AUDIO
    @DIY-AUDIOАй бұрын

    To get everything out of your 100w sub, you would need to check the power supply you would be using, as although this amp is rated at 100w for the sub and 50w x 2 for the l + r drivers with the average power supply you may only get 70% of the max power. So, to get the full 100watts, you may want to consider a bigger amp but, that will obviously cost more!! Hope this sort of makes sense

I have thought about buying a nice tidy pair of Tannoy DC1000's, I have the DC3000's in my living room, and using the DC1000's dual concentric driver to form the basis of a TL speaker.
