Hey mate, what made u leave it after 1.5 years and pursue an internship instead?
@AryanPokharna2 жыл бұрын
Hey bro, work experience was rlly good and the professional development was also invaluable. I wanted to have some time off to experience uni (in ur life you can always work, but u cant necessarily go back to uni). So after studying fulltime for a year, i found that internships were actually pretty sweet spot for work/uni balance, i could try new roles, learn new skills and meet new ppl (every 3 months).

Hey man, I’m thinking of applying for commerce in accounting and finance in Sydney and as I’m moving into Sydney I need a new job and thought getting some experience would be good so I want to ask u. How much do u get as a cadet? And did u need to study around the area before getting accepted into that firm? Thanks
@AryanPokharna2 жыл бұрын
Hey bro, for a cadetship you get around $40-45k a year as a salary package (more if you go for banking cadetships like UBS). There's no assumption of previous knowledge for cadets, like I didn't know debits and credits until a couple months later from uni. Firms will teach you from the foundation as per what they expect from you. However, knowing/understanding the area (for example maybe some recent changes to accounting practices or new taxation legislation) will quickly show employees that you are passionate and driven towards the field. Hope that helps! Edit: I got a video on cadet vs. coop which i think will be pretty informative for you

Hey Aryan, do you have any advice on studying English advanced? Do u have a sort of process when drafting your essays?
@AryanPokharna2 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, the first thing I made sure is that I throughly understood the syllabus and made practice questions from the syllabus itself. Then my process would loosely follow this: 1. READ. read through the text & write down quotes on a doc (anything which could somewhat relate to the syllabus), 2. QUESTION choose a broad topic from the syllabus and make this my question to answer, 3. BRAINSTORM ...brainstorm...brainstorm... basically come up with different ways to answer the question whilst looking at my quotes to see how they can tie together. You could google themes in the text or discuss with teachers/friends on different themes which appear in the text. 4. SETUP. Say you got 3-4 themes, each can be 1 paragraph. I would then dot point/allocate quotes in each paragraph, write in 1 sentence how this theme is relevant to the question and list some syllabus terminology which I can integrate when I finally write the paragraph. Doing this will make it super easy to finally write out. 5. WRITE. Write out paragraphs, then the intro, then the conclusion. 6. REVIEW. I would get my friends to read over for grammar/sentence structure & do the same for their essays, basically giving each other new ideas and writing styles while doing so. For my HSC essays, I got my teacher to proof-read/edit everything atleast once (she was really nice). Anyways, I hope that helps, its been some time since HSC so I might have missed some steps in the process. Cheers, Aryan
