    I have yet to get mine to light - tried the pre heat with white spirit and gradually turning the lamp on but it just ends up like blast furnace !

    Great video, though I would mention that they are supposed to be preheated for 90 seconds before lighting!

    what kind of oil do you use on the pump leather? ordinary engine oil?

    nope thats not a Problem. Paraffine oil is mostly declared as Lamp oil. Further parafine oil is one kind of kerosene so its no problem. Also a Petromax is kapabale of burning Diesel as well as petrol and methyl alcohol with a special carburettor :D

    Hello goodopenairmyx, I would have a question regarding the incandescent mantle. A new one is required each time you use the lamp or it can be used several times? Thank you.

  • @Drobium77
    @Drobium775 жыл бұрын

    no, mantle can last for a long time, so long as you don't bang the lamp about or drop it (mantles are very delicate)

    I think maybe it is called kerosene... Anyway - you should use petroleum products - no lamp oil.

    NEVER USE LAMP OIL IN THESE LAMPS. If you are from Finland you maybe know "fyringsparafin"? Use that!

    Lamp oil is NOT recommended for these lamps from the producer. Only use so-called "green paraffin" (only called paraffin in norway/england - known as kerosene)(NOT ANY NAFTA PRODUCTS), use anything witch is petroleum-based. Lamp oil is not petroleum based and it will destroy your burner after a while. Petroleum-destillat (norwegian) hydrogen treated, light, - is safe to use. Remember; these lamps do not burn the liquid, but the gas. Lamp oil burn to slow and will clog the pipes. Good luck!

    What fuel is used for these petromax lanterns? Lamp oil? Gasoline? Alcohol?

    @@guillemartinez8247 Paraffin is kerosene, it just has different names across the world. It must also be clear paraffin not coloured . Some replies say to use gasoline ...if you do the next light you see will either be in heaven or in hospital.

    I see that Japan has more of a national hobby for stoves and lanterns :D Am I right? Most views I had on my Sigg burner are from Japan and the only other vids about that Swiss kit are from Japan. Not one video from Switzerland or at leas somewhere in the EU. I use my burners as tools, not much of a hobby but I'm curious... Does this lantern use an atomizer for preheating?
