Sconny Wandering

Sconny Wandering

I went looking for information on our Wisconsin State parks and what I found did not answer my questions. I couldn't tell if the neighboring sites were close, or if we had good brush between sites. It's hard to tell if your site backs up to another, and you definitely can't find the true waterfront campsites.
While campground tours are still a part of the channel, I have ventured out on more trails and expanded my travels to include some quick stops as well as a few National Parks.
I look forward to many more adventures.

Great campground. Putting on my list! Question.. if you reserve a site, but when you arrive a FCFS site is available and you like it better, does the Forest Service allow you to switch? Can you call in to switch (as internet service is scarce in National Forest)

Great question. And I have an answer based on a campground I was at last night in the UP. The signs clearly stated, you must occupy the site you booked. No switching. Now if you want to pay again for that other site that's open you can do that

This place was much more interesting before the paved trails and signage. The original trails around the site led to a sense of discovery. There used to be catch and release (trout) in the spring stream. That was way back in the 80's. The cabin across the street was closer to the road and surrounded by scrubby trees - no real place to park or walk around over there. Time sure has changed that area.

I hope people are not allowed to take the dog there like at high Cliff, how sick people. Do you take your dog for a walk at other cemeteries among the graves? Why can't a person be getting something out of their car without a dog coming from around the back and into your back door? Why is your dog near my car?

getting walked in upon as a single older woman camping with a small tent by the female camp host who should know better. People use their car to change clothes, or sit in the back after many rainy days. Yet they leave the firepit full of a dozen eggshells and butt wipes.

Thanks for exploring Welcker's Point Campground. I have two questions: From your video it appears that the shoreline around Welcker's is rocky /smooth stone. Is that correct? And my second question is, do you know if you can launch a kayak or SUP from Welcker's? I know there is a launch area near Tennison Bay, but I was just curious. Thanks for your channel! It is such a great resource!

I stayed in one of the walk-in sites last summer, they are very secluded and you can see alot of stars and the Milky Way on clear nights, great birding spot too. You will have to bring your own shade as it is in a prairie and be mindful when storms and lightning come through.
