I literally couldn’t do the jump rope to 100 and I was like there has to be some sort of glitch with these letters and it was way easier than actually doing it 💀

That's something not explained here, but where the paintings lead is completely dependent on your savefile and which kingdoms you chose at the splits. In Fir's demonstration Metro's painting goes to Lake since the game thinks you visited Wooded first (I can't explain why that is, but my guess is how the kingdoms are ordered naturally in the code)

Yeah, the game's default order is Wooded first, as you can tell from Peach's dialogue in the post game moons. Since you will have visited neither kingdom, the game reads it in that order and so Metro leads to Lake instead of Wooded
