    Good morning great video I love these discussions cause it shows my mind to start wondering! You never want to rush into a final decision without looking at your options first! When I first looked into this whole kayak world I watched video after video writing down everything I could about getting started into kayak fishing! Besides if my height and weight I immediately looked at stability, comfort and weight capacity! God knows paddling and even peddling all day long was out the question. So I lined at max capacity cause I know I wasn’t the strongest motor long lasting battery to keep me on the lake for the longest time! In fact my first three kayaks I fell in love with was Nucanoe unlimited, old town auto pilot 136 and the native titan x 12.5. I looked at all the other kayaks you suggested and I’m still open to others. I just had surgery done on my left eye and July 23rd my right eye will be done for cataracts. I’m losing weight and going to the gym to help build my center of gravity better. It’s going really good to help me prepare for this journey I am taking swimming lessons just in case. I have a list of items I want to add to my kayak for those just in case scenarios out on the lake! Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and information on this subject tight lines brother take care!

    I was looking at getting a kayak and was talking to my neighbor who's family have several. They told me because of my back issues they wouldn't recommend one. The reason I got my Quest Angler 10. So I guess from the Genie I would have to have one that would handle a 350lb guy that would be motorized, super stable and non back breaking😂, alot to ask for!

  • @yakkittymack
    @yakkittymack15 күн бұрын

    Yeah, kayaks are probably not the best for back situations, not because of the seating, it would be getting in and out that would be problematic. Weight capacity wouldn't be an issue, motor wouldn't be an issue, it would be seating. If you got like a hybrid with a high seat you'll sacrifice some stability. You might have stumped the genie 😂

    @@yakkittymack I’ve upgraded to a 100ah LiFo battery and I’m getting at least two days worth of fishing before I have to charge it. If I’m at a primitive campsite with no electricity. Although I charge it every time I get back home. Just in case. By the way, your Trotter has a vibration at three and above speed. I had that happen to me on a 55 pound thrust Minnkota troll motor. Although mine may be the prop because I changed it out to a smaller one, so it can fit through that hole in the center of my kayak where the pedal drive used to go. I’ll probably switch it back to the original prop since I’m going to use that trolling motor on a 12 foot frontier Nucanoe. Note: lesson learned, a 30 pound thrust and a 55 pound thrust only gets you more thrust, not more speed so it’s not worth carrying the extra weight. Remember if a jerks set the hook. Gene

I have made one decision not to invest into either paddle or peddle only cause I’m not trying to exercise and be tired by the time I reach my spot LOL! I watched a tournament and when the tournament started I watched one of the competitor paddle and he was stroking hard and I have to say he put in a strong effort but I wander by the time he got to his spot someone who had a peddle drive or motor beat him to it already! I have an Old Town peddle drive and for what it's worth, I can peddle that thing for 10 hours and never feel tired or strained. If I peddle a bicycle for 1/10th of a mile I feel like I'm dying! It's much easier peddling a kayak than I would have thought until I tried it.

    Thank you J! Yeah, the swiss army kayak doesn't exist and the more I think about it the more I realize it can't. There's only so much room in a 10 to 14 foot plastic boat. So it comes down to 2 real choices, peddle or power. Paddle isn't a choice, it's a must! Motor doesn't equal speed but it certainly helps with energy consumption. My first tournament where I used a motor, I had it set on speed 3 and a guy in a sit inside Kilroy went by me like it was nothing. So the hull really maters too. I am so guilty of that same behavior. The night before I come up with a plan and I'll have 9 rods rigged up with a perfect variety of baits and then I get on the water and only use 2 of those rods all damn day! If I knew I was gonna do that I could have left the other 7 behind to make things easier but it would be better to use them all. The reason it goes like that for me is when I'm in a kayak I'm moving around so much that my favorite bait is still fresh to any fish that might see it. Although I am also guilty of staying too long in any spot that looks fishy. It's funny because when I'm shore fishing I have a 4 rod limit but if I could carry more I would definitely use them to get something new in front of the fish. The point is: I should stick to the plan!

  • @yakkittymack

    @jasonm1884 💯 percent correct. It's like I know I need a variety of options before I go fishing, but then I throw it all out the window when I get there. Considering that both Zebco and KastKing are owned by the same parent company, it's really just a matter of budget and they're all Zebcos in the end...just different models. You can also get 2 or more lesser Zebcos for the same as a Bullet too. Great video.

    @rolandgdean interesting....they are both really good reels but you can feel the money difference for sure. I saw a Zebco the other day I had never heard of (don't remember the model) but it was in the $50 range. I almost got it just to see. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! And thank you for liking the video!!

    That's awesome! I mainly use mine for depth and temperature. I'm not exactly sure how to read it, but I plan to learn. There is a KZreadr who does a series on how to use the Garmin. I've got a tournament tomorrow.... good luck in your tournament!!!

    @@yakkittymack my goal is to learn it I definitely don’t have experience with them but knowing depth will be so huge where I fish most. It goes from 3-4’ to 50’ quick and sometimes I have no clue how deep I’m fishing. Thanks and good luck in yours also!

    What brand rods are you using

  • @yakkittymack
    @yakkittymackАй бұрын

    @johnogle4585 I am using the Berkely Shock Rods 6.6". I find the 6 1/2' size good for smaller boats and kayaks and the are reasonable priced at around $40-50 each. I have them paired with Quantum Throttle baitcaster reels and 30-40 lb braid. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I appreciate you!

    @seewhyem you are so right! The issue is the PDL kayaks don't have foot rests. They are designed to use the peddle unit for resting your feet. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!

    @txmexnittro thank you very much! I went with the short scupper valves. I'm honestly not sure why they make 2 different sizes? Anyway, the short ones work great in my 106 PDL. Out of curiosity, which kayak did you order? Thanks for watching and commenting! Much appreciated 👍

    I feel the same way about spinning reels! I do not like them, at all!!! I also don't care for bfs baitcasting. I can cast light lures further with a spincast reel. I just purchased a bullet and can't wait to try it. Hopefully I like it.

  • @yakkittymack

    @thekracken4572 yes 💯 percent anti spinning reels 😁. I haven't tried a bfs baitcaster yet, not sure that I will to be honest. I had someone say the other day that they use their Bullet for skipping lures, so I can't wait to try that bim not good at skipping with a baitcaster. I'm pretty certain you are going to love the Bullet...it's a heavy reel but so buttery smooth for spincast. If you remember, send me another message and let me know what you think after you try it out. Thank you for watching and commenting!!!

    @@yakkittymack will do! I'm also not the best at skipping a baitcaster. I would say about 75% of the time I try is successful. By successful I mean I don't blow the reel up. It's way less if I also count missing where I'm aiming at. 🤣🤣

    @Pelican Sport This company does not support their products. They broadly interpret their warranty to not warrant defects when items purchased on sale or discounted! What does a store discounting an item have to do with a defect warranty? I put this out to the community: I understand your frustration, and I apologize for any confusion regarding our warranty policy. Our warranty explicitly excludes products sold in "as is" conditions, demos, prototypes, liquidation, or floor models. While the policy does not explicitly mention "discounted" items, it is broadly interpreted to include items purchased on sale or at a discount that fall under these categories. While I empathize with your situation, unfortunately, our warranty terms are designed to apply uniformly to all customers, regardless of purchase price or promotional discounts. Based on our current policy guidelines, we are unable to extend warranty coverage to your purchase. We value your feedback and take your concerns seriously. If there's anything else we can assist you with within the confines of our policy, please let us know. Thank you for your understanding. I strongly advise to not buy a product from this company especially if it is on sale at any discounted price... unbelievable !!

    @tommywalker742 I agree. I had my dad in mind when I bought and tested these reels since he isn't experienced with baitcaster reels. But then I had a viewer comment the other day that spin cast reels were great for learning to skip since they don't backlash and so that's exactly what I'm going to do. I really want to learn how to skip a lure and this might just help me do it. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

    Great video…I have had mine for about 3 years and thank my lucky stars I bought it…the whole point was to get out on the water and off of those banks…love the boat, but yes current and wind effect these small boats…if these came in a 12 foot same design that would make these boys just perfect…can’t beat a pontoon style for stability.
