    @@josiahlau264 When the window opens to 90 degrees, do they pop out (slip in/out) then? Or do they slide to the right or left when horizontal? You are the first one that I've found that has addressed this - so we are very thankful! While further searching, I'll see if I can contact someone at the window mfg (se-gi in our case). so, most of us call it a sensor flag, since a small flag passes in and out of the infrared sensor. I have mine. My problem it the paper stops when the paper gets 1/2" past the fuser. I can't find the resolution. It's probably the main circuit board, but I can't be sure since I'm not a repair tech.

    I have the same model, but not the same problem. Mine prints fine single sided all day look. But it thinks it is paper jammed when I print double sided. There is not paper jam that I can see. It prints side 2, but then errors when it is trying to print side 1 and ejects the page unprinted on side one. Any thoughts? Thanks all!!!

    I have a MFC L8900 that had that problem, but the parts were all there, and the part had just broken. I carefully plastic welded that part with a soldering iron, and it now works well. I had to adjust the part a couple of times after welding it. I also had to work the part around a little bit to make it work properly.

    Good thoughts and conclusions. However, this is a sign of sickness and evil in the Nation actually rubbing up against us personally. If you met the thief, he would not be what you suspect him to be. Nevertheless, prayer is timely. But what about governments who seem careless about our lives anyway, and assure us that THEY are the people best chosen to protect our interests. "I've got this bridge I'll sell you..."

    @@oldnewadventures I also think that putting a semi-permanent weighted spiked barrier under a parked RV, one which would be immoveable by thieves, is possible. Set it in place, then driving up into a position guarding the converter. Add a long-finned guard around the clamp area, to foil/break the reciprocating blade of a sawz-all. If government wants to "get-real" then we should be able to have a national alarm network to annunciate the approach of thieves under vehicles. Banks wouldn't put up with such laxity. They sometimes only give up a couple of grand per incident. Perspective! Thieves work by volume, like anybody else. Sooner or later, they'll ALL get caught in their multiple nocturnal adventures. I don't have any sympathy for thieves. This isn't Les Miserable! Winking at crime is participating in it.

  • @flbchbm
    @flbchbm25 күн бұрын

    depending on the model, there is no rear door sensor. My MFC-9340cdw has none, since this is how card stock and envelopes are ejected - straight out the back. One must not forget to move the grey levers to adjust the fuser for paper thickness. A, B or C.

    Thank you for the video it helped a lot by pointed me towards disassembling the keyboard, but the method of taking the keys out you showed is improper and has a big flaw. Pushing them from the back with a screwdriver has a potential to break the plastic in the back of the key. Actual way to take them out is much more effortless. Basically the base behind every key has a cutout that stops the key from going forward. It's designed so you can insert a shim or thin screwdriver between keys(either on the left or right of the key) and bend it back, which lets the key slide out with very little force. Also instead of bending the front metal case its easier to just take the whole key assembly out - it's not really screwed down with anything so you can get it out and work on it freely.

    For what its worth, ive not had an appreciable difference in fuel economy going with 5 inches of lift on 30 inch tires. I still get 14-16mpg on the highway. These things dont get great fuel mileage anyway especially offroad. Where the lift gets you is increased wear on your front end parts. But its a small price to pay if you do much offroad driving.

  • @oldnewadventures
    @oldnewadventures10 ай бұрын

    Thanks! I have been contemplating a 2" body lift with 30" tires. Any thoughts on the best wheel offset to avoid rubbing?

  • @LoveTribeOverland
    @LoveTribeOverland10 ай бұрын

    @oldnewadventures I run a 245/75R-16 on a 16x8 wheel with zero offset. I had to do a minor amount of trimming the pinch welds and hammering back the "mud flap" portion of the firewall on the front wheel wells. When I say minor I'm talking 1/2- 3/4 inches. If you're running a stock bumper you'll be trimming a bit of plastic too... but thats easy peasy. The 245/75R-16 is essentially 30 1/2" by 9 inches wide tire. On a stock rim I got very little clearance for steering before the inner sidewall was rubbing on the subframe... the zero offset wheels made all the difference. Now I don't rub until I have the wheel cranked full stop... and even that is minor and rubs the "tread" portion of the tire and always at low speed so it's not a big deal. I did run into trouble in the rear wheel wells though. When we got into "full stuff" situations where the axle was at full articulation... I was getting some tire shredding rub on the front of the fender on the wheel well. It only did this when the van was fully loaded with gear and we were literally at weight capacity (or slightly more) I just installed some XHD 2100lb capacity Leaf Springs and that 100% cured the problem. (I'll be releasing a build video on this later today in fact)

    Quick question… I am curious about installing a Thule style rooftop cargo box on the factory Astro / safari roof rack. It seems this is what you have done, but I read on the forums perhaps the factory roof rack isn’t strong enough or fastened well enough to the roof of the van to accommodate a cargo box. Curious what your thoughts are?

  • @oldnewadventures
    @oldnewadventures10 ай бұрын

    I haven't had any issues with my roofbox. I just put regular camping stuff in it like chairs, tent, tools, maybe about 100lbs worth + the weight of the box. My van didn't originally come with the roof rack, so I can't speak to the factory install. I pulled mine from an old astro in the junk yard and installed it myself with rivnuts into the roof sheet metal. I also have two extra cross bars (4 total) for tying on two kid's kayaks and it feels pretty sturdy. I wouldn't put a bit rooftop tent on it though :)

    One of the keys to security is making yourself less desirable than the lowest hanging fruit, which in your case would be all the RVs surrounding yours. It's kind of like passwords -- any password is better than no password, and conversely, if someone has you in their sights, few passwords are good enough. I agree that the final product looked like a heart, but disagreed with your sympathy for the thief. If it is indeed a heart, it's one that belongs to you and your family! I applaud your efforts and might have wrapped mine with barbed wire or glued broken glass to it. Spite is powerful motivation. Good luck to your defense system and I hope that security cable doesn't rattle too much! :)
