    I planted one 2 years ago and unfortunately died at 10 months or so. I live in plant Hardiness zone 9a in TX. I think a combination of disease and 100° + Temps made it kick the bucket.... trying again with a stalk finally getting roots and should transfer to a pot soon.

    Why rip the plant from it's paper pot, ....? it's designed to go in the ground.....never seen that in my life....!!!

  • @CaliforniaGardening
    @CaliforniaGardeningКүн бұрын

    It will go through the paper but its better to free up the roots before planting. Hope that helps! Also the top part is plastic, so you have to remove it anyways

  • @tirusew
    @tirusew3 күн бұрын

    You can simply leave the roots there and mix up with fresh soil. Roots breakdown to be excellent nutrients.

  • @MrHasie
    @MrHasie2 күн бұрын

    @@tirusew A brief search uncovered no reasoning. Conclusion was to remove leaves, roots etc. when being used for potting soil, and keep them for in ground. I suspect decomp may alter the balance of nutrients before it benefits which is more pronounced in an isolated environment - potted plant. I am not convinced though as I have not seen supporting evidence from my brief net search.

  • @CaliforniaGardening

    Composting robs available Nitrogen from the soil. Its best to remove roots, let it compost in the compost bin and then add the fully made compost later. Hope that helps!
