The movie was mostly fiction.
I was one of the first females to be allowed on carriers. We have a female Blue Angels pilot Amanda Lee, but I can't imagine the strength it took for him. I wish the African Americans would have this type of drive today and stop ebonics and gangster life.. because they can.
What an amazing hero! ❤
I great American and a dam good naval aviator.

God gave Israel to His chosen people, the Jews... period.

Both Jewish and democratic? That sounds contradictory, especially after the Nation- Jewish State Law! You might as well be honest and call it APARTHEID!!!
you should call yourself IncuriousMind...
Cool story. The first black pilot of history was Domenico Mondelli, original name Wolde Selassie, feb 20, 1914. He was Italian of Tigrine origins (Eritrean). He was adopted by Colonell Attilio Mondelli during the retreat in Eritrea in 1891. At the act of adoption participated also the Praetor Napoleone Maschi. When Italy joined WW1 in 1915 he was the Captain of the 7th Recon Squadron and he did a lot of missions gaining the Bronze medal of military valor. Then he obtained the command of the 7th Bombers Squadron the 16 february 1916. From that till the rest of the war he perfomed and commanded a number of various Royal Air Force groups and squadrons. In the 10th October 1917 with the rank of Major, he became the leader of the XXXIII Assault Unit of the "Arditi". The 1st May 1918 he became Lieutenant Colonel at the command of the 1st Battalion 242° Infantry Regiment, Teramo Division with which he participated to the Battle of the Solstice and got injured. After the war he was awared of two Silver Medals of Military Valor, two Bronze Medals of Military Valor and the title of Knight of the Order of the Italian Crown. He substituted the Lieutenant Colonel Giovanni Messe at the command of the Arditi IX Assault Unit in Albania where he got his third Bronze Medal. During WW2 fascists tried to exclude him from the armed forces but he called Mussolini in the tribunal and he won the cause three times. Althought not partecipating to ww2 actions, after the war he lived in Rome with the rank of Consul General (Brigade General). In 1959 he was promoted (because reintegrated in the Armed Forces) to Brigade General first and in 1963 to the rank of Division General and again in 1968 Army Corp General. He was rewarded also (for no merits this time)(by President Saragat) of the honorific title of "Great Officer of merit of the Italian Republic" in June 10th, 1970. He died in Rome the 13th December 1974. He was black, african or eritrean, italian, the first black pilot of history and an Italian war hero.
I was really enjoying this until the music background became so intrusive that it was just too hard to understand. So, I turned it off. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?
Deja News brought me here
That's not a true account of how he died as it was told, and also, he wasn't the first black naval aviator that distinction goes to Oscar Holmes during WW2. research more about this to learn the truth of the treatment of black officers in service to the U.S. Navy.
Against insurmountable odds, this young man forced his dreams into reality.. Intelligent, hard working, outstanding men. They didn't make excuses, they just did it..
Thank you, Sir. With thr most respect
Druze are kafirs
Israelites not Africans
I have two sons that became USAF pilots. The oldest son graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1995 and went to EuroNato Training in Texas. He became an F-15E pilot and served in the Iraq war. He is now a retired Lt Commander and is a fine person and still a great pilot. My youngest son graduated from The University of Washington and was inducted through the AF ROTC program there. Not to be outdone by his older brother, he also followed his training at EuroNato in Texas and became an F-15E pilot serving in Afghanistan. On one deployment he returned to Mountain Home, Idaho with a shoulder patch with 105 Combat Missions flown. He said it was really 112 missions. He later transferred to the F-35 training base in Arizona and became a senior F-35 instructor. He retired as a Major early due to back injuries from flying at too many G’s for too many missions. He is also a fine person and a fine pilot. He currently contracts with an AFB as a simulator instructor for the F-35. All military pilots deserve admiration for their skill and training.
❤
So which was it was he killed by a satchel that a nva soldier threw in their hooch and killed other Marines too or did he fall asleep on a bridge and was shot by a nva soldier? I saw another utube site where another marine who was in bullocks unit said bullock fell asleep on a bridge and an nva soldier killed Dan Bullock so which story is true?
Devotion is a movie made about him and his flying skills. Great movie on Amazon prime.
Go black man!
Is Daisy Brown Thorne still living?
My most heartfelt thanks to all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice! There is no greater love than to lay down your life for your fellow man! Thanks to the families who lost their loved ones for freedom. Those who disrespect our flag has NEVER been handed a folded one. ❤ 🇱🇷
Jesse's wife said some powerful words. She is a peacemaker!
Hey I’m in this!
What's not clear, is whether Jesse was alive when they dropped the napalm's on his position? Also they never mentioned the type of aircraft they were flying? RIP Jesse your story has touched my heart
Unfortunately , the navy did not pursue the rescue for this pilot. He died in freezing cold and a broken leg.
Amazing story! Thank you J.L. Brown for your bravery and service 🙏🏽
Omg
He is true hero 🦸♀️
Omg he is true hero😊❤

Worthless race of people
I can't imagine what it was like ( anything but negative) for him growing up. However, his toughest fight was still ahead of him. I am not a veteran but had to sign up (1979) for the draft. Now after watching the movie Devion, I must have felt that I wanted to pay some respect to him. This is what I decided to do: I purchased a model 1:48 scale) of a F4U-1A. This is my very first attempt at a plane model. When I finish the model ( put my train set on hold) I will post a picture on here. Thank you Jessie.
The Movie Devotion had me in tears 😢
Look at how america treats its African Americans? Jessie was probably the best of his class. Where is the honor of service how they treated him?
Thank you, Jesse Brown. Black History is American History. I salute you for paving the way for others.
An amzing guy and human being, god bless Jesse and thank you! The movie `Devotion` on Prime is well worth the watch.
