For all the folks disappointed by not demonstrating how to hook the shifter/cable up to the derailleur, I made a video on how to do it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lXes3NmxoMKXo9o.htmlsi=5ivhiO8WA2HcsDPL
Good video, just got a 2017 Cannondale slate with BB30a install Shimano XT Crankset
Nice 👍
thanks got my ef-29-L working like new thanks great tutorial
Great to hear! Thanks for taking the time to give some feedback!
Thank u really helped me 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
You’re welcome 😊
Both sides of my Quick Links have arrows so it does not matter which link you have on the outside because whatever link you use they are always correct from the front and wrong looking from the back side!
Yes, both sides are the same. If Shimano and SRAM both imprint this on the links, it must matter. The arrow should point in the direction of chain travel when looking at the Right or drive side of the bike.
Wow .. thanks for the video. I just bought a used e-bike with a speed shifter .. and had no idea how to use it. Pretty simple and well designed .. I'm saving this in case I ever need it .. thanks again.
Glad it helped!
Thanks! I'm replacing my rear one per your other video, but I now have the confidence and knowledge to maybe fix my wife's front 3-speed levers which are totally non functional.
Excellent!
What is the purpose of the plastic clip?
To hold the crank arm on if the bolts are loose.
Useless video, doesn't actually show how to put the new gear box on!!!
Jeez... kzread.info/dash/bejne/lXes3NmxoMKXo9o.htmlsi=5ivhiO8WA2HcsDPL
for anyone that has done this repair, how did it hold up afterwards? was it totally fine after or it did it only buy you a little time before replacing the wheel? asking cause i have the identical problem.
I got the HG53 from a local store and the outer links backside is flat (and maybe should not be flat, at least on 11speed it isn't) - so this might be fake on the back it says shimano north america bicycle - as the real one the pin is in a separate bag attached to the main chain bag - as the real one the chain lenght is definitely printed - it's black and very straaight with clear defined 90 degree corners, definitely not handwritten and not blue - so this looks fake but this one is the newer stock made in china which I've read is true that shimano moved the production there so hard to say if I got a fake or not on the box it's hard to say without comparing side by side the fonts everything on the box looks clear, nothing is pixelated sadly the ShimanoACP app is no longer available it seems, won't let me download it on android store I also have KMC x9 chain on the way from amazon.de cause I wanted the quicklink version so mayble I'll use that one (my current chain still measures ok and not needing replacing, will just deep clean it and lube it) but that one was actually suspiciously cheap so maybe that one is counterfeit KMC, the shimano was standard price as everywhere else in local shops
Nice 👍👍
Works brilliant! THANK YOU!
You're welcome!
Excellent video and explanation - thank you!
You are welcome! Thanks for leaving a comment!
Use an old chain and a screw it to a piece of wood to make a chain whip.
Air compressor blast gets grips off fast!
So can ypu have a freewheel that slides onto a hub as opposed to screwing on.
No
Tips for getting it off when you installed it in reverse... the cutting disc is about to make an appearance
Thanks !! Helped me fix my leash! 🎉
You're welcome!
How do you remove the right crank arm from the gears? Or is that arm not replaceable?
It depends on the age and model of crank. Most modern versions are not replaceable, but any bike can be upgraded to a newer design that has replaceable gears - chainrings - sprockets - Etc.
Shimano pad ruined a set of rims, Kool stop is way better. No metal shaving embedded in their pads
I was hoping , but my Tiagra shift cable was frayed and hanging up. No amount of WD40 is going to fix that. I'm going to try duct tape and spray foam.
Thank you, your video help me so much ❤❤
You're welcome 😊
Great video with a nice and easy run through of removal and installing :D
Thank you! 👍
That tip about the grease just saved me tearing down the shifter or paying the guys at the local bike store to do something they already charged me for. Many thanks
You're very welcome!
The magic WD-40 did the trick, wow. Like magic, my bike is like new again! ❤❤❤
Great to hear! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Huge thanks for this video...we used it as a general guide to fix our flexi leash...wanted to let you know it helped us alot today
Great to hear! Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback, I appreciate it!
I've watched a lot of football in my life and this is the only game I remember. As a Sooner fan it made me very happy.
Me too!!!
Hairdryer also does the job
Yep
I found a Cannondale CAAD 4 someone had thrown in the garbage. They were moving and were NOT taking it with them. Could tell it was stored outside with all the rusting. Didn't know anything about STI shifters. After viewing your video, I think I have a pretty good clue about how to unfreeze/lube them back into functioning status. As I read the comments, I KNOW I found the right video! Thank you, bruh, for sharing your info!
You're welcome!!!
i was looking for new shifter and then i find this, thanks bro🙏🙏🙏
You're welcome!
I wa able to run an 11-39 cassete with a derraleur extender without the gs cage. I just recieved the gs cage and getying ready to upgrade it, but what is the second hole for the spring for? More tenssion, etc?
I have a taco wheel on my bike I did what you did with but there’s a big whomp in it is tricks you can help me with thanks great video
Thank you for this super informative, easy to follow video and technique. Trying to fix up a cheapie Walmart bike that someone threw out to the curb for scrap. Bent back wheel and missing one brake shoe. I figure if I can fix it up like you’ve demonstrated here, I’ll donate the bike to someone in the community and save it from the scrap yard for at least another couple of seasons
I love you
short answer: no
Thank you very much sir
Who guys are watching video after accident of cycle 🚲 ,
Can you do R16?
I hate this derailleur.
Mine got a lot of sand in it and stopped working so I decided to clean it. I decided not to remove the cable. Reassembling this thing was difficult and took several tries but I managed to do it at the end and it works again. Thank you very much for this video!
Thanks! My 25 year old bike with Deore shifters was would only move 3 gears. I just removed the cover and sprayed a lot of PB Blaster on and let it sit and hour then shifted it a few times and that did it.
Great to hear!
Good info and thanks for sharing. I just scratched my brand new carbon specialized on the top tube on both sides pretty bad. Wish I would have watched this before.
Thanks my friend! This worked like a charm and saved me from buying another pair of pliers. 👍
exactly what I needed plus dig the Sex Pistols
Nice exercise, but would not ride that.
I do another of repairs for local riders. One guy, an absolute mountain bought 3 chains from ebay. I put one on without a quick-link and he snapped it. I replaced it with another he'd bought. Same again, snapped. On the 3rd chain I put in a quick-link to make sure it wasn't me. He snapped it nowwhere near the quick-link. I dug the last box out the bin, blatantly fake. Replaced with a real one still going strong.
I would just buy a set of Magura HS33 hydraulic rim brakes, to fix this issue they are maintenance free, have very good stopping power!
Ive been searching forcthe last 36 hours trying to find the name of this system snd how to work on it. Thank you so much. I try to self teach off videos before going to the shop. Thanks for saving me the frustration
Nice demo, thanks!
