Once upon a time, there was a farmer named Joe. Joe was known for being a bit of a joker and loved to tell jokes to anyone who would listen. One day, he was out in his field tending to his crops when a traveler came by. The traveler asked Joe if he could have a drink of water and Joe, being the jovial man he was, offered to give him a glass of milk instead. The traveler was a bit surprised but took the milk and drank it down. As the traveler was leaving, Joe called out, "That milk came straight from the udder!" The traveler stopped in his tracks and looked back at Joe with a confused expression. Joe burst out laughing and explained, "You see, I have cows, and that milk came straight from the udder of one of my cows!" The traveler, now understanding the punch line and the shift in interpretation, laughed along with Joe. The incongruity of the situation, from expecting water to receiving milk, and the resolution of that incongruity, the realization that the milk came from a cow, evoked laughter and humor in the situation. From that day on, the traveler couldn't help but think of Joe and his clever punch lines whenever he passed by a dairy farm. And Joe, well, he continued to tell his jokes and bring a little bit of humor to the world around him.
