Hello youtubers! Thank you for taking a look at the Mainstream Moto channel! My name is Mike and I live in northwest Montana. I'm looking forward to sharing scenery of my beautiful home state from the seat of my 2008 DL650 V Strom named Felix. Future video projects include motorcycle gear reviews, how to's of motorcycle maintenance, how to pack for a motorcycle trip, how to enjoy your motorcycle on a budget, and much more! All motorcyclists welcome no mater what you ride.
Check out the Channel Trailer!

It looks like doing one spring at a time is the easiest way to install them.
Did you seriously use a PVC spacer instead of mild steel tube you can't be serious man
I just changed my rear pads. Now the front bolt will not go all the way in. There is a gap about 2mm before it touches the caliper, and i dont dare tighten it any harder in fear of stripping the threads. Any ideas?
Do you actually use the trailer? I don't seem to see any video's with it (at least not in the thumbnails)... just curious how this design panned out, as I'm thinking of building a trailer.
Great video thank you. I have one question. On my front brakes one was ok but the other was at 0 what is the problem amd how can i fix it so next time thay will end together? Thank you again
4:10 woa. this made so much sense! +1 subscriber Edit: would like to see mileage differences with and without trailer attached
Nice video How wouldn’t take much to give some commentary for Tour bike riders as to road conditions paved, dirt, gravel etc for guidance to others.
Do you just follow the trail and it takes you straight to it?
Why didn’t you put it the swing arm sir
Thanks for your sharing and tips... Great 👍
Smart fella. Ty. Helped me connect dots in my head for my possible build
When you go for a ride to see how much the coolant reservoir goes down, Do you have to put the fairings back on??? Can you just ride without the fairings? See how much you have to top off the coolant. And when you're finally done, that's when you put them back on?
Super handy. Always good to see a new perspective. I just got a 2007 Vstrom 650, and I'm slowly catching back on on the missed maitenance. Got a new fuel pump, and rebuilt all the assembly as it was rusted to pieces from sitting by the last owner, tank cleaned of rust now. Did an oil/filter change yesterday, now onto the spark plugs, air filter, coolant, brake fluid, and I'll save the valve clearances for a while. Bike has 80k miles, and runs like new, and doesn't look that old. My first adventure bike, after having no bike for the last couple of years.
Nice structure and cardan joint is correctly placed for once, Most self-builders place the cardan joint with the vertical hinge on the side of the trailer, causing the trailer to tip on its side during a short bend or when reversing. Nice video without annoying music!
Where do you order your OEM Suzuki parts for your v strom?
Muy bien hecho, gracias por compartir
I agree bikes have a soul. Especially after owning them a while and maintaining them yourself. I really feel them being lonely when not used as much as before or appreciative after an oil change and a wash
On the ride, looks fun! Are you standing on the more technical sections? I find that really helps, as well as reving up on hill climbs and use the clutch for speed to avoid stalling out. If you are new to dirt (as I am), the IRC tire KZread channel with Rich Larson has some great instructional videos on drills to help improve ones skills off road. I have been using them for the last year and my control and skill has increased. Thanks for sharing the DRZ content. On the Farckles: As a 2023 model DRZ owner, I am happy with my Seat Concepts seat and it’s much more comfortable than stock. I also have a skid plate, radiator guards, hand guards, IMS footpegs, rear rack, adjustable levers, led lights with tail tidy & double take enduro mirrors. I am currently having the dealership add in the Suzuki kickstarter kit (don’t have a garage at home), and plan on doing the 3x3 mod, jetting, and exhaust. That should complete my mod list, as well as bring the weight back closer to stock.
Very good instructional video, but please avoid using constant music. That whistling song is really annoying.
I'm curious about the bottle jack under the bike, it didn't hurt the skid plate at all? Can you share where you got the seals?
Большое спасибо. Все понятно без перевода.
ok so whats the point of this has nothing to do with making trailer SB
Oh ~ you again. That other video, pretty great. So right now I've got to go. Maybe for lunch
I also like to slide it in from the back.😀
I had a GS500F like yours & I agree about cross winds. There's a lot of plastic to catch the wind & it's pretty light weight bike causing it to he pushed sidways & and scrubbing off speed. I did find that upgrading the front & rear suspension to RaceTech springs & an R6 rear shock helped A LOT.
Ive been checking in on various sites on You Tube now for well almost 10 years. Pick a topic, I've been there. (Still appreciate ChuckE2009, you know that kid from Ohio who moved to Texas. Taught me to weld. ) This is (I think) the most comprehensive and honest video I've seen about the (PROCESS) of being creative with metal. OOPS now there are a bunch of other video's of other people doing this. And I guess BJ over on Brick House Builds has done this. Oh well. Anyway ... Thank you so much for this one. ~ It's the creative process that you share here. Just great. ~. I guess you name it, someone has done it ~ On You Tube! Oh yea. 👍
Great job. Super clear and very helpful. Thank you.
nice job!! Keep your great videos coming. Thanks.
You are the best bro. I'm building my project just washing your videos
Just got my first Vstrom (07) this last weekend. $1000, guy had 115k miles all put on by him, runs like it’s new!! Great points, and completely customized. I have to say, I like how quiet it is and how it looks!
I'm sure you'll enjoy your bike! I got a K9 three weeks ago and absolutely love it. So easy to ride. It's not gonna turn heads but for me it's about the ride not being a poser 👍
Tackled this on my Wee myself because of your easy to follow video. Just took it for a quick rip and didn't die. Don't see any leaks. I'll need a longer ride to be sure, but I think I'm good! Thank you!
You made that look so easy !!!! Ive heard those springs are a nightmare !!!! ❤💪
I know this is an older video, but if the OP is still around, where is this and what road is this. Fwiw, I own an ‘06 Vstrom and agree with all your comments.
GREAT JOB! I have a DL1000 and now a MUST do this. Was just going to rattle can in Khaki and then add army stars decals. But this is DOPE!!
Seems like yoi could use that to make a swivel wheel for way less then they sell them for, im talking about u joint connection part
Thank you very much, you helped me with your ideas and decisions!
Nice! What type of brake fluid should to use? Thanks a lot!
firstly, a two-axle trailer for a motorcycle is a billion times better and secondly, someone does not know how to make a tow bar and thirdly, someone does not know how to put a normal outlet for a trailer
WoW… thats some professional stuf going on there
😅😮
Thanks for the great videos. So clear, concise and helpful. I can’t believe I am only finding them now.
thankfully your helmet is back, thank bro for all your ideas. from Philippines.
thank you bro for this idea that was so nice, from Philippines.
Great work
How thick of plexiglass did you use?
Nice build mate👍
Could you actually do another tire up front to keep weight off motorcycle? I have a specific use for the trailer but a smaller bike.
Excellent video thanks 👍
Subscribed, dude! I like how you got to it without the drama and silliness some presenters insist on. I have no patience when I’m looking for solutions lol.😊
The "Thick pocket" of air is the hot air coming out of you.
