  Je me souviens, dans les années 80, Sergio Leone était un metteur en scène de série B. Et "Mon nom est personne", une merde de série Z. J'étais jeune, ne comprenais pas ce positionnement et me disais que je devais être à côté de la plaque... Les années ont passé et tout le monde crie au chef d'oeuvre pour Leone comme pour Morricone. Comme quoi...

  Le procureur aurait dû mourir aussi, tout comme sa femme et sa fille. Oui, pour montrer que nos actes ont des répercussions sur tous. En fait seul les décisionnaires et leur famille auraient dû mourir. La pauvre jeune femme est morte à cause du Procureur même s'il veut se cacher derrière le "je suis dans le camp du bien". C'est une merde abjecte qui ne pense qu'à lui. Il frappe le père alors qu'il n'a jamais ne serait-ce que giflé Darby. Il se sert de ses collaborateurs qu'il envoie se faire tuer tout ça pour ne pas avouer sa faute et continuer de se mentir en ressassant qu'il a fait son travail. Ce film devrait inspirer tous les proches de victimes qui se chient dessus avec des "vous n'aurez pas ma haine". Ces gens-là devraient crever comme Darby, en hurlant. Si on tue mon enfant, la seule justice qui existera sera la mienne et j'arracherai une à une les dents du coupable avec une pince, puis les ongles, je découperai chaque parcelle de son corps au cutter et je ferai de même avec toutes celles et ceux qui auront permis que ce crime ait lieu. Œil pour œil, dent pour dent, la loi du talion. Seule cette justice peut exister pour qui la souhaite réellement. Si les victimes de meurtre, d'attentat ou de viol qui en sont mortes pouvaient revenir, je suis persuadé qu'elles iraient demander des comptes à leurs proches : "Ma vie ne valait-elle pas la peine que tu risques la tienne ou étais-tu trop lâche pour punir les responsables ?".

  Maybe someone in the navy could help me clear up something that confused me. It would seem that in a briefing like that, with an Admiral in the room, the Admiral would take point on the meeting. Instead he waits until the Captain speaks then passes off to him. Am I getting the protocol wrong in this situation?

  As cool as this scene is, it’s very messed up to know they forced an actual rat to do this. And apparently did it to 5 rats in total. The fact it was even allowed to happen and be filmed is even more bizarre.

  Amazingly, the Abyss has been released in 4k UHD but is banned in the UK because of this scene, a scene which you can watch anytime you want on YT.

  Technically no. They told him to cut the scene and he refused. Even though it's literally been released on VHS, DVD and Blu-ray without complaints.

  ​@@dominicmgm That's what I thought. Originally that film got banned but then they lifted it and it still contains sickening acts of animal abuse and even real human deaths ... The human deaths are footage of real life executions that the characters within the film watch on a monitor. Yeah, they sell that in hmv.

  @@1000000man1 Cannibal Holocaust still got one cut, to the coati scene. As you've mentioned, all the other scenes of animal cruelty (that poor turtle...) were left intact. The Abyss, meanwhile, had the rat survive the experiment (both in the film and in real life, in fact Jimmy used five rats to ensure none of them suffered) and the BBFC are still raising a fuss? Gimme a break. Thank goodness I was able to import the 4K from the US!

  @@dominicmgm Fortunately 4k discs aren't region locked as well. Maybe it'll be looked at again in the future and allowed. Technically he could release it here if he cut the scene, but he's obviously put his foot down and said no.

  This scene is the reason why the 4k release of this film isn't available in the uk. Even though no harm was done to the rat. I'm so glad for imports. The bbfc want to cut this scene out for it to be made availabile

  Heute am 11.03.2024 läuft der Film gerade auf dem Sender Arte. Ich habe mir heute genau wie früher schon wieder sorgen um die ratte gemacht😢 Aber ich glaube das alles soweit gut ging wie man in vielen Kommentaren liest

  I like how Hollywood imagines internal Soviet vehicles, crafts, and ships to look state of the art, or somehow at least American equivalent. But then we're talking about late Cold War era movies. And there's only so much a movie producer can work with. But in the post Cold War era where we can finally see what a Typhoon CIC looks like IRL, it's as different as night and day. Oof.
