How is your insulation holding up now that you've had it installed?

You should have an automatic open and close vent on the roof to swap out the house air

Now that would be a nice spin down canister. I wonder if it would work as one. Most are just to small. I could add in a bottom drain.

Thank you I was building a barn and I was debating on putting down driveway fabric around the barn cuz the barn is going to have concrete on the inside but we live in Indiana and normally every driveway my dad's ever made we never use driveway fabric everybody tells to cut it out and put big rock and then put Little Rock over the big rock and then it'll pack in which that's what I've always done

I have an ERV Air Exchanger (Venmar) and there is quite a lot of bugs also.. With a cheap intake filter the bugs plugged up the ERV recovery core. Vacuumed the core and still bugs plugged in the core.. Washed out the bugs from the recovery core and guess what? Ruined the ERV recovery core...They want 1100 dollars for a new core which the unit cost 1200.00..(No way I'm buying a new core) Sorry I had bought an ERV (especially from VENMAR)..Question: Can you wash the HONEYWELL core without ruining it? I think an HRV unit is much better because the core can be washed...Stay away from recovery cores that cannot be washed.. It will be costly if ruined..(No support from VENMAR also)

"I'm very particular about certain things and the way I want things installed. " Said with a straight face and an ERV in the background hanging from the roof with fabric straps meant for supporting flex duct, not meant for supporting equipment.

This was not done right from the get go, there should have been number 2 stone laid down then 3/4 inch then fines on the top. There should be 6 inches of stone on top of that fabric, whoever did this did not know what they were doing

Spray foam insulation can create an airtight seal in the attic, which might disrupt the air pressure balance in your home. This could potentially affect the draft in your fireplace, making it harder for smoke to rise up the chimney. Similarly, an overly airtight attic can impact the performance of exhaust vents. Kitchen vents, bathroom fans, and other exhaust systems rely on the ability to expel air from the house. If the attic is sealed too tightly, it might create negative pressure inside the home, making it harder for these vents to function properly. To avoid these issues: -Ensure proper ventilation: When spray foaming an attic, it's crucial to maintain proper ventilation. This might involve installing soffit vents, ridge vents, or other ventilation systems. -Leave spaces around chimneys: Spray foam should never be applied directly to chimneys or flues, as this can create fire hazards and interfere with their function. -Install make-up air systems: For homes with powerful exhaust systems, installing make-up air systems can help maintain proper air pressure balance. -Consider a home energy audit: A professional can assess your home's overall air exchange and pressure balance to ensure all systems work correctly after insulation. Nothing quite like bad advice. Sadly as othwrs have said you have to vetilate but thees lots of solutions to this. Overlall when done correctly whichbits not you will end up with a good balance of efficency and comfort. However open fires in a house thats taking in pasive technologies isnt ever ideal and quite interating to see such a mixture of poluting technologies in one unventilated space.

For that small humidifier, I'd probably put it up on something and have it drip into something. Tap a line into a collector tray lol. Then you could have it fill a 55g barrel or something else. At that point, you could use various methods to detect when that thing is full. Or if nothing else, it'd give you weeks in between you having to check the barrel.

Your mechanical wasn’t done correctly. Code requires a fresh air intake which is typically wired to a damper so when your kitchen hood vent is turned on the house will bring in air to replenish what you’re using. You don’t need a whole house humidifier you need an ERV or HRV depending on where in the country you’re located in. Most importantly is sizing the equipment properly. If you were the one who decided what size equipment to use then you made a serious mistake. 2x6 with spray foam everywhere and it changes the heat load which is why the house stays so cool when the sun is out. It doesn’t trap the “wrong temperature” it’s doing its job. This video is ridiculous and I hope you’re joking not really this stupid

Drain line shouldn't be tied into your hvac like that. Your hvac is going to blow air into the dehumidifier drain line and will mess up the way it drains.

Good video! Quick question - I noticed you also have an ERV… how do you have the airflow set up between the ERV & this dehumidifier? Does the ERV inject fresh humid air into the air handler and the dehumidifier doing the same as like a T from the house returns? Essentially I’m trying to figure out how the dehumidified air gets back into the house with the ERV also in play.

What a waste of time! Next time it plugs up just use a shop vac on the outside drain. This is a very common problem with mini splits. It’s a good idea to make this a spring cleaning chore every year. That overflow should be knocked out and the wires should go in between the red wire to the thermostat
