Bart Herman said that his cat torturing a mouse is something that "it simply happens in the animal kingdom", but according to Darwinian evolution we also belong in the animal kingdom, and that means that humans torturing and killing each other is also something that "simply happens". But atheists in general are inconsistent and don't admit that.

Yes, humans torture and kill each other. They have since the dawn of mankind. Yes, this is owed to our animalism. Look at chimpanzees if you want to see depravity in close ancestors of ours, but also look at bonobos to see generosity and mutual love in our close ancestors.

How does the judgment of Satan convince or convict sinners that they are going to be judged? John 16:11 If as powerful a being as Satan has been judged, then we weak human beings will be judged by God.

Enns offers an interesting middle ground. He is trying to approach the biblical narrative from a viewpoint where there is an element of "scriptural authority", while realm of science is accepted as real. This contrasts with the approach in which the bible is seen as a collection of writings across 800 years which have no coherence (especially not between the Old and the New Testament) and there is no necessity to find a balance of exegesis between Genesis and Romans.

😇 Dr. Chang has a halo waiting for him. I have known him since he was a medical student. I am proud to call him my friend. He is very kind. I wish there were more people in this world as kind as he is. He does not take credit for his success. He gives all of the credit to God. While he is correct that it is by the grace of God that he finally was able to succeed, he is the one who showed God that he had the courage to do the work it takes to become a physician. John deserves to be recognized for what he has endured and what he has done for God's people.

I perfectly agree with all of Bart's arguments save for the unrealistic conclusion he made. You see, we can't enjoy the Capitalist led world to its fullest. If we want to do that, it will be at the expense of the poor and the feeble. It's only when we can put aside all the luxurious lifestyle dictated by Capitalism and accept to live at bare minimum and bellow our means that all can live with dignity. As long as Capitalism is the one that dictates the rules of the game, we're fighting a losing battle. If one person still wants to own a yacht of four million dollars, then Street Children will continue to go hungry and die of diseases and cold.

What a stupid argument that god fine tuned this earth so that humans can exist. Is it God the Mechanic or Dinesh D'suza who is do all this creating. Why are we selective about the powers of this omnipotent god. He has to fine tune? To me if he is big bad ass god than he can just say exist and it should exist period. If it was up to god we could survive in any environment under all conditions. Dinesh want us to be aware of his "omnipotent gods" limitations. Tons of respect for Bart Ehrman. He speaks from facts and is a very qualified man with a lifetime of study, research and commitment to the issues of God, Theodicy and suffering from a biblical point of view. He is a certified Gospel expert.

Hey you folks, read Whitman's "Song of Myself" for another perspective. Another great poem. Despite its name Whitman's poem has little on him, and unlike Eliot it is optimistic and full of love. It will make you happy. Though Eliot was born in St Louis USA he seems to have transformed into nearly full English Anglican.

Great poem, no doubt, and interesting that this Christian poem (so called) does not mention Christ or consider the story of the 4 gospels. It's an intellectual Christianity that owes more to Acquinus' Summa Theologica, his distrust of the flesh and physical love like Augustine.

Dinesh's opening statement was abhorently unfounded and unjustified - suffering as some kind of special dilemma reserved only for believers because atheists just say "eh"... what can you expect from that point forward? Simply defining atheists as inherently morally objectionable/devoid is a disgusting tactic & dodges the fact that we, as a species, must invest in alleviating suffering precisely because there is nobody out there to do it for us!

Dinesh said he wouldn't discuss whether the garden of eden was historical or hypothetical. If the garden of eden is hypothetical, then god did create the world as it is. This world is too bad for a good god to have created it as is.
