Wow, that is very reactionary. You are exhibiting what must be the philosophy of your local leaders, blame everything and everyone else for our failure rather than fixing the problem! "Feeling better about ourselves for trashing a town"? How about... we went to your town and it wished we had not and were sharing our honest assessment. No, we feel worse about ourselves, we picked a disappointing place to stay because it's not managed well. I left New Orleans, my ancestral home because it has been ruined by crime, drugs and a corrupt local government. There was a murder per day the year we left. Doesn't make me feel good about myself to warn travelers to be extremely cautious when they tell me that they are going there. So there you go, to you, I am "trashing my town", but really, I'm just being honest, sadly. We just spoke locally with a man who grew up in Biddeford. We told him we went there and this first reaction was, "Why"?! He then went on to tell us how bad sad it is. So as for being BS, how is it that we have natives telling us about the problem, we literally filmed the place and showed the problem and it's "BS" ? Went many places that we love in Maine and we have said so! Put this energy into cleaning up your town and not blaming disappointed travelers who have the misfortune of this wishing they had not spent the precious time and money going there.

There is street like that in St Augustine called Magnolia Ave. It's covered with trees like that. I worked in Amelia Island for a year. Other than the downtown nothing is there. A1A traffic was horrible. Sliders is a good restaurant there. Trucks carrying logs block the road and construction never ends. I prefer St Augustine than Fernandina or Amelia. Btw, St Augustine is the oldest city in America.

We were at Ogunquit Maine last week cool place and been to Portland Maine where lobster is king?
Used to live there back in the early '70s. Worked at Jackson Lab. Bar Harbor is nice, but you can pretty much do all there is to do in a week. and Acadia park has it's own "Hippy Hollow" area where you can skinny dip. Just have to know how to find it. I escaped from maine in '82. anyone who says it's lovely hasn't lived there for any period of time.
