    I have the Summit 1. It’s pretty good. BUT low end torque and PAS is bad. Numerous owners have contacted the company about it. The acceleration profiles are so weak anything other than BOOST pas 5 gives very little torque. Fine on flats but it is horrible on even paved hills. It’s so bad that my T1ST by comparison feels much more powerful on hills despite having less than half the power. Motor programming is messed up The company acknowledges they’re trying to fix this in the next firmware update.

    I'm curious how the acceleration and ride were for someone who is a little nervous on a bike. Were the Sinch/mod City/Monday torque sensors smoother than the Fold/XP/Elux cadence sensors? Wondering about the takeoff and maintaining speed for a biking novice.

  • @MicromobilityIndustries
    @MicromobilityIndustries18 сағат бұрын

    The thing that I love about torque sensors, in general, is the methodology behind how you get the power is different than cadence. Based on your question, it sounds like you know that part of it. But the way I think about it is cadence is on or off for power, and you control that power by limiting your top speed with your Pedal assist level. With torque, it's more like a percentage of the motor. So 25, 25, 60, 75, etc. There's not a MPH cut off with torque, and that makes it feel a bit more intuitive, and much more similar to a traditional bike experience. The nice thing is, if you are feeling a bit more nervous, as you stated above, you probably wouldn't be pedaling very hard, which means you wouldn't be getting as much power from the motor. With cadence, the takeoff and motor cutoff is usually a bit delayed (because the ride would end up being really jerky if the timing was adjusted too short). I usually sum it up like this: cadence is liking riding ON an electric bike, whereas torque makes it feel like you're Lance Armstrong (without all the cheating). I hope that sums it up a bit, some of the general differences. Now for the bikes you mentioned, there is definitely a difference in the ride feel between the cadence and torque. For Lectric, they have kind of their own thing going on, so it's a mix between the two with their Lectric PWR. If it were me, and I could just get one bike, I'd most likely go with a torque sensor for regular bike riding, but I would probably want a cadence for something that doesn't have a good pedal geometry (think Super73 or ZOOZ-style bikes). So each has its place in the market, but for a more traditional bike riding experience, I would go torque 9 times out of 10.

    @@MicromobilityIndustries Thanks for the explanation, that's very helpful. We have been going back and forth on getting a folding bike or not but I think I definitely am going to stick with the torque regardless of which we pick.

    The V12 series are good wheels, but in my opinion they wouldn’t be the easiest to learn on.. The V12 is quite top heavy and is very sensitive to tyre pressures, if the pressure is high it does feel a bit unstable for a new rider.. Also, it is probably the most configurable wheel made..arguably, it has way too many settings and options to configure for a new rider..the settings give all the options to adjust the V12 ride from dream wheel to absolute pig… which is great if you know and fully understand what the settings and options actually do…if not, you can be in a world of misery very quickly. I would advise that any V12 rider checks out ..mrelwood euc …on KZread..he explains things really well.

    Possibly, but I'm not sure. After further researching I think it's a combination cadence+torque sensor, where a cadence sensor is responsible for activating PAS, and a torque sensor controls the level of power.

I was between this bike and the Lectric Xpress, and the deciding factors were frame (wanted a high step for better rigidity), torque sensor tuning (seems easier to maintain top speed on the Xpress), and price. Reporting in the future about the weight of the bikes sounds great, I’m now a subscriber! Your reviews are very thorough and I hope I didn’t come across as harsh on this review. I’m frustrated as I’ve spent all week online and driving to about 13 bike shops looking for a folding e bike with at least a partial suspension, gears, 30+ range and weight of about 55 lbs or less. Nothing. I tried the new WindHorse Wave which has a remarkable amount of features but no gears and 53lbs. No reviews on this and it probably isn’t made to travel more than 5 miles on but I was able to lift it into my trunk on testing (I’m older) as this will be a function of it. Can you recommend a few for me to look at with these few features? Or maybe they don’t exist? Thanks for your excellent reviews! ✌️

  • @MicromobilityIndustries
    @MicromobilityIndustries5 күн бұрын

    You sounded very reasonable to me! It sounds like you know what you need, and it can be hard to find those specs, especially the weight part. Weight is not something most brands like to brag about, but some do a good job of putting all the facts out there. Seems to be hit or miss in my experience. If I look at what you're needing a bike to be, the Monday Motorbikes Verano seems to be a good fit. With the battery and basket attached it weighs in at 58lbs. If you take the basket off, you're probably down to 57, and if you remove the battery (which is super simple these days) that takes off another 9lbs. So you're down to 47-48lbs give or take. It has the gears, the range, and if you remove that battery it comes well below the 55lbs you were looking at. So, that could be an option. We were all pretty impressed with it when we filmed this competition, and it won. We didn't know what to expect from Monday's first folder, but I myself think it was well-built, and am a fan of the Monday Motorbikes company in general, so seems like an excellent bike to look into. They're currently working on getting the Verano uploaded to their website, and as soon as it's done, I'll update the description, and paste that link here as well for you if you'd like to do some further research on it.

    I appreciate your review but it’s astonishing that you, and most folding bike websites (and even regular bikes) leave out THE most important stat, the weight of the bike. They’ll tell you all the specs and measurements in the world even the total allowable weight to carry but not the weight of the bike itself. After all isn’t this the whole point of a folding bike, to pick it up and try to put it in the trunk? It amazes me.

  • @MicromobilityIndustries
    @MicromobilityIndustries6 күн бұрын

    We appreciate you watching :) I totally agree that some Ebike companies make it hard to find, cause for most of them it’s not a stat they’re super thrilled with I imagine. There’s a few, like Carbo, who promote the weight of their bikes front and center, but most don’t. Now that being said, it is usually listed somewhere on the product page, you just might have to do some digging. We’ll be doing in depth reviews on some of these bikes, and in those we will definitely mention the weight of the bikes. We didn’t mention it in this video in particular because it wasn’t a review, and we didn’t have any fun tests to showcase weight. But now you’ve got me thinking about some ideas for next time… ;)

    Maybe once battery tech improves, otherwise that would sacrifice too much range 🫠 I think that's the one major drawback for the Anthem/Outset is that the real world range isn't great. Smaller battery would also reduce the weight, which could be a good thing depending on who you ask. I like my motorcycles on the heavier side as they feel more stable at speed and in wind 🤷🏻 although for offroad riding on the Outset the reduced weight would probably be nice.
