Forest Hills Memorials and Stone Co.
Come along as we journey through the seasons of setting cemetery memorials. I started working in a cemetery when I was 14 years old. I still run a couple cemeteries and took the opportunity to purchase a cemetery memorial shop in 2016. Come along as we journey day to day in our operations.

Ok so that is a pretty amazing way to repaint lettering. I like one of your responses on its easier than molasses because you don't need to find water wash it back off. But i do wonder what happens if you do get a little bit of paint on the stone. How do you go about getting that off ?
Great video keep up the great work keep making monuments!!!
great one again.
I have never been to a quarry I need to go somtime.
It's amazing
Started this video like a month ago and just got back to it lol. Good Job so fun to see all this kind of work. To bad we had a wedding that weekend.
Good work getting everything out its always crazy.
Where would i purchase this product?
I think most granite suppliers carry the product now. Are you in the trade?
Will Monumask come off of a marble stone that has lost its polished surface?
I would try it on a small area first. Somewhere not super noticeable. I've used it on marble and it was fine. But not on real real old sugaring marble
Painted or sealem one way or the other that's awesome. I wish more would.
Why do you use D2 over other cleaners? How many markers can a gallon clean?
D2 has been proven to be the best in the industry for cleaning granite or marble cemetery Memorials. Lots of studies have been done on it and that's also why Arlington national cemetery uses D2 on their Memorials. I've used other cleaners but D2 is by far the best. And it's biologically friendly. You can by small spray bottles of D2 and you can by upto 55 gallon drums of it. The amount you will use will depend on the size of the memorial and how dirty it is
I've always wanted to visit Elberton, now I feel like I have. Thanks for taking to time to film, edit and post!!!
Thanks for watching. I have another one from elberton coming out on Friday where there is actual work happening ha. The knowledge base down there is absolutely amazing
nice to see your dedication for replacing the stone. Question. What do you do with the existing stone?
It's still at my office. Debating on resurfacing it. Someday
I need to keep this stuff in mind next time people ask for paint restoration. Good video.
Do you prefer Monumask to Molasses ? Monumask recommend that it should be put on the stone no thinner than 20mm on a polished stone, and no thinner than 30 mm on a porous unpolished stone. Yet the coat you rolled on looked maybe 5 mm thick. great video and a new subscriber here. thanks for sharing
I prefer Mask over Molasses yes. Especially if I'm out in the cemetery. I don't need to have a water source to rinse the mask off. A lot of our rural cemeteries do not have water. I put it on pretty thin and have never had a problem. I'm sure they recommend a thicker coat to ensure there isn't any seep through.
@@ForestHillsMemorialsandS-bj2bs Cheers for the reply, much appreciated. I get where you are coming from regarding not needing a water source for cleaning off. Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos and any new upcoming ones. thanks again for the reply
I think Beth does a better job than you do 😂
100%
Great video and information....thanks so much for making it!!!
I’m not sure what you charge for your opening/closings, but for an outside cemetery, we would charge $600 for a weekday cremation burial without a tent, or $800 total with a tent included. More on Saturdays depending on the time of arrival. I’m In Northwest Indiana not too far from you, just FYI
Yeah we might raise ours soon. Started by helping out the cemetery since they couldn't find any. Was going to help them out till they did. That was like 5 or 6 years ago
Best stonebuilder around
Super video
The metal markers are zinc?? The cemetery I ran has about one dozen of them. They hold up over time extremely well
Packer logos are double 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I agree Brian all Mondays should be holidays but then so should Friday's 😂
Hey 100 Subs very nice!! You did it so much faster then I did good work.
Many thanks to you my friend!
Super work my friend very knowledgeable

I'll take a winter like this every year!
I will as well, I bet Christian will also
Aloha! What is this mask called? I’d like to be able to do this for my great grandma’s headstone.
It's called monumask
Super great job guys
We love the setting bar it was a great investment. I think it goes to 12 inches. Maybe I will make a short talking about it.
What is that stuff you are painting on called please?
It's called monumask
Thankyou I have my great grandparents grave to do but been trying to find the right way to do it this looks very effective!
@mammaof4832 make sure to use a foam roller and multiple light coats
Can use molasses also. Works great.
Always lots to get done before the snow comes. It seems every year there is a few last jobs the snow stops us from getting done.
Hey great video I always love seeing the big shops!!
This was their small building. I was in heaven just walking around. Ha
@@ForestHillsMemorialsandS-bj2bs I could tell looked like a lot of fun!
You can never have to many Toolboxes!!!
Truck issues always pop up at the wrong times. It was nice having two options this summer for us. Glad to see your taking good care of packers fans!!
Another great job done
Do you not need foundation under stone ? I'm in Pa, and we have to dig 30 inches deep and fill with solid concrete. Do they lean over time ?
Some cemeteries require them so we do them. Most cemeteries around here do not want to disturb the Virgin soil and just add more weight under the stone. I relevel maybe 1 stone a year but mostly none and have been doing them this way for 25 years
So different to how we do foundations in Australia, and fix monuments, really interesting to watch
What do yall use to seal them together?
Been doing stones for years, I’ve never seen this but I’m taking notes, thank you!
What is the blue goopy product you put on the stone?
Didn't work great in thos video bit it works great on panels with v cut lettering. It's called monumask
Thank you!!@@ForestHillsMemorialsandS-bj2bs
We never set stones the wrong way. We also have never set it on the wrong grave. let me know if you would like to hear more tall tales.
I'm from Australia, and I'm a stone mason aswell, man you guys do foundations for lawn monuments, so weird, our laws are a 300mm deep trench, with 2-4 piers that are dug with an auger 6-8 foot in the ground, with trench mechh on top, Always amazes me how different countries do it differently.
Glad to know we aren’t the only ones to brake down on the road!!
Looks like fun.
Pertama
Man you guys already got David sponsoring you.
Haha! I wish! On a diet now so can't enjoy!
Always make it better if you can. That's the way to treat people!! :)
First comment lol :) Was the upside down thumbnail on purpose?
Ill bet i tried putting that thumbnail normail like 22 times. For some reason KZread kept flipping it. After awhile i just said thats the way its going to be haha
