    I’m looking to pick up another yak to be a throw and go fishing and fun rig. I had an old town 120 sit on top and it was just too big and heavy for me to enjoy. Would you recommend this one as being more user friendly for smaller bodies of water or quick day trips to hang with friends on the lake for fishing and fun?

  • @CalebGoesFishing
    @CalebGoesFishing2 ай бұрын

    Yes I would definitely recommend it for that purpose, it only weighs 63lbs and i have no problem picking it up and throwing it on my truck myself. Makes quick trips to the water allot easier.

  • @CalebGoesFishing
    @CalebGoesFishing2 ай бұрын

    I didn’t have any problems with my seat, it may be a manufacturer error. Which in that case should be covered by their limited 5yr warranty.

    Trying to decide between this Magellan and the Pelican The Catch 100 Classic Sit On Top and Pelican Challenger 100XP Kayak. I don't fish much but I'm 6'5" 230 and need something bigger that is still light enough to put on my Edge roof rack. Any suggestioms?

  • @CalebGoesFishing
    @CalebGoesFishing4 ай бұрын

    If you could give me a price range I could better recommend something, since there are allot of different price points with the kayaks , but I will say I’m not a huge fan of pelican because of the way the molds are made, it tends to be a thinner cheaper plastic and it’s made in a two piece type mold which I’ve seen over time can separate and cause leaks. The Magellan has allot thicker and high quality of plastic compared to pelican, hope that makes sense. If ya have any follow up questions just lemme know!

    @@CalebGoesFishing thanks for the reply, $699 for mine since I'm also getting my wife a smaller beginner non-angler just to get out on the water. So for mine I was looking at 300+lb capacity but boat weight under 70lbs if not under 60. Book says we have a 100lb rooftop limit but since we are only going within 1 hr drive would feel ok total 115 or so. Hers will be 50lbs or under. I appreciate the help.

  • @CalebGoesFishing
    @CalebGoesFishing4 ай бұрын

    Fairly stable, not the most stable kayak but def stable enough to stand and fish once you get used to it. I would recommend getting some kind of grip tape to put where you would stand up at since it’s just the plastic there.

    Awesome walk around video! I just bought this same kayak. I’m looking forward to getting mine on the water too, as well as modding it out to fit my fishing needs. I’ve already removed the foot rests since my legs reach all the way to the front of the floor space anyway, I can just rest my feet there. This gives me more of an open, spacious feel inside, more like a boat instead of a kayak. I also plan to change the way the rear seat securing bungee works. As of now it crosses under the seat all the way to a hook in front of it. I want to keep that space clear for storage of tackle trays below the seat. Should be a simple mod using the existing bungee and a couple of aftermarket bungee hooks.

  • @CalebGoesFishing
    @CalebGoesFishing4 ай бұрын

    Yeah that was one of the first things i noticed with the feet rest, I had to have my knees really bent in order to use them on the farthest setting (and I’m not even tall), that’s a good idea to just take them out honestly.
