Back in the 90 I lived in a little house right at Vickers crossing. Corner of Drouillard Rd and Wales. I could sit in the living room and watch the railfans filming on the Wales Rd crossing where much of this footage was taken.

With the 2000’s series cars being retired recently it’s fair to say they had a useful history and service life along with the 1000’s, 4000’s and 5000’s but as a kid from the early 2000’s I always saw them before the newer uglier 7000’s as I hate them so much and I hope the newer 8000’s don’t suffer much.

Didn't know the IC SW14s lasted that long! I thought they were all scrapped around 1995 but guess I was wrong. Great catches. Always a treat to see long gone railroads and equipment. Fallen flags are now all in our memories and photos.

That was fantastic, so much of the fabulous CSS&SB especially when compared to how it is now. Also two GP15s - NS 1433 & CSX 1556 Plus, two Boxcars of the Angelina & Netches River RR, I've only ever seen one of these on another video, years ago. Thank you for posting.

5:56 This magic shop came and went over the years, being a florist sometimes but occasionally showing back up, as though it was pulling off its own disappearing act...the owner operates in Lombard now, very close to the station on the very same UP line.

Thanks for the info. I don't really remember taking that shot, I suspect I just liked the way the windows were lit up while we were waiting for the train. I remember a hobby shop & a pizza place up that street, but they might have been gone by then.

This brings back memories of my dad ❤ thank you for posting this. My dad worked at Grand Trunk and drove the train from Battle Creek, Mi to Chicago and from Battle Creek, to Port Huron, Mi. He worked there from 1967 to 1998. His name is Jim Gardiner. His brothers and my grandpa worked there too. I miss my dad so much😢

Hi Dan, watching from the UK. Loved all of it, especially the Steamer, an Executive SD70MAC and the South Shore at Hegewisch, including the poster, 'Autumn in the Dunes' - which looked like it dated from way-back-when.

  • @dlcluley
