I always wonder what a legalist defines "work" as in regards to observing the Sabbath. And if they have ever put any thought into how unrealistic their error is...... I wonder about the absurd statements like. Yes, Jesus is my Sabbath rest, BUT I'm still going to yada yada. That but does nothing but indicate a lack of faith in how good Jesus is. If you are already in your Sabbath rest, that is, Jesus, while you are carrying on about your daily life, exactly what rest do you need from what work? What about the people who can't get away from work, due to circumstances beyond their control? What exactly are you proclaiming to be the consequences for a person who doesn't adhere to your legalism? What about people whose life and work are serving Jesus? Should they rest from that on the Sabbath? 24/7 caretakers? Emergency workers? Legalists make the Messiah seem cold and stoic. "But I don't trust Paul's words" All scripture is God breathed. Peter endorses Paul's letters: 2 Peter 3:14-16 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. But yeah, according to Galatians, legalists aren't approaching peaceful ending.

How do I know Yeshua is the Prophet that is to come spoken of by Moses? The prophet that will speak only God's WORDS who will do signs and wonders and who will also teach us to obey God's Commandments. But is a prophet does miracles but teaches us to not keep God's Commandments then we are to NOT listen to him. Yeshua states, Don't even let it enter your mind one little tiny bit that the Law and the Prophets will be destroyed [even after my death and resurrection]. But until HEAVEN AND EARTH PASS AWAY every little letter and small mark in the Torah and Prophets will remain in effect. Luke 5 Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." So if you are teaching other that God's Law in the OT and the Prophets are abrogated you are least in the Kingdom 😞.

I agree we are not under the Law of Moses. But instead, Yehovah has written His laws upon our hearts. Jer 31:31-33. Not like the Law of God that Israel broke. They (most) did not write nor allow God's Spirit (per David) to write His Laws upon their heart. Instead they rebelled. But when we repent, accept Yehovah and His promised Messiah spoken of by Moses and the Prophets, who have the Spirit of God / Messiah in us walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. If we walk by His Spirit in us we will not SIN which Paul states is breaking God's Commandments!

Everyone knows that no one is justified by keep the commandments out of obligation. But what does it say? “Hear, O Israel! Yehovah is our God, Yehovah is one! 5 You shall love Yehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.6 These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart." The prophets go on to states that to keep God commandment out of fear of man, God does not accept. If we do anything it must be done out of Love for God and Love for neighbor. Why? Because that is the Spirit of the Law. The Spirit of Love... The Letter kills, but the Spirit is LIFE.

The Corinthians has no legal means of addressing fornication. A bunch of believers in Christ cannot go around killing people. There has to be a legal system in place to deal with this terrible sin against Yehovah. So this does not mean that the law of God is not applicable, it just means that in that country there is not legal system in place to address these serious issues. It really is that simple. One cannot take God Law and destroy it or make it obsolete. The act is still sin and if they were in a land with a legal system to address then they could take the matter to court system just as they did in Israel. There has been legal system in place in other countries to address this issue, even early American townships had Covenants with God's and His word to address these issues.

Galatians 3:21-26 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. 22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Read Hebrews. “9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works,[a] just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.” Hebrews 4:9-11. The Law of Moses is no longer in force. As Paul put it, the Lord has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to His cross (Col. 2:13,14). He continues saying, Therefore let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ (Col. 2:16,17). These Christians were being criticized for not keeping the Law of Moses, especially with respect to remembering the Sabbath. In this passage Paul refers to keeping the Sabbath as a shadow of things to come, a phrase used by the Hebrew writer in reference to making animal sacrifices (Heb. 10:1-4). Just as the shadow of animal sacrifice was replaced by the substance of Christ’s sacrificial death, so is the shadow of remembering the Sabbath replaced by the substance of the Lord’s Supper on the first day of the week. There is just as much authority in the New Testament for remembering the Sabbath as there is for animal sacrifices none!

Chapter 2 Corinthians 3 takes care of this entire discussion. 2 Corinthians 3: 1Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? 2Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: 3Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. 4And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: 5Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; 6Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 7But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: 8How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? 9For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 10For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. 11For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. 12Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: 13And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 14But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. 15But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 16Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. 17Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

When we talk about testaments we need to define what the Old and New Testament is, - The Old is based on the Ten Commandments on tables of Stone and Earthly Priests and Animal sacrifice (Levites) (Deuteronomy 5:2-6)(Leviticus 14:13) (Deuteronomy 8:1-8) - The New is based on the Ten Commandments Written on our Hearts and Jesus as the Sacrifice as well as Christ as our High Priest (Jeremiah 31:33, Hebrews 10:16)(Isaiah 53:8)(Hebrews 4:14,15) Now we talk about the Sabbath, was it in the ten Commandments? Yes… Is it done away with? I don’t think so reason is because Hebrews 4:9 Clearly says there remains a sabbath rest for the people of God, verse 8 “says if Jesus had given them rest would he not afterwards had given them another day.” This signifies that the day is the same. Colossians 2:16 talks about a shadow of Good things to come, Hebrews 10:1-3 states exactly what those shadows are, The verse itself is a reflection of Ezekiel 45:17. Context is Key, before Colossians 2:16, Verse 14 gives context, blotting out the handwriting or ordinances, Deuteronomy 31:25,26 clearly states the book put in the side of the covenant containing the law against us which was commanded to the Levites. The sabbath is not against us, as Christ says it was meant for Man(Mark 2:27) it is lawful to do Good on the Sabbath(Matthew 12:12) , it was Paul’s custom and Jesus’ too(Luke 4:16, Acts 17:2) The Sabbath will also be kept in Heaven( Isaiah 66:23) John was in vision on the Sabbath( Revelation 1:10, Isaiah 58:23,14) it was established at creation and it is the very mark that proves that God is creator, If you ever met an Atheist ask them how many days are there in a week(Seven 7), Who declared them, You point them to the Bible, on the Seventh day God rested bless and sanctified it(Genesis 2:1-3) Lastly Galatians 3:19 asks a very important question… Why was the law added?(Moses law) it was because of our transgressions… The question comes in, What were we transgressing? 1 John 3:4 gives us an answer, Sin is the transgression of the law(The law of God which is the Ten Commandments) Jesus is My Rest but he also says if you love me keep my commandments (John 14:15), so not only will i rest in him but i will also rest from my work on his appointed day for the son of man is Lord also of the sabbath(Mark 2:28)

@volleyblogSOCAL Paul was joining the Jews in the synagogue on the Sabbath. It is the Jews in this chapter that were keeping the Sabbath. It was their custom to allow anyone in attendance the opportunity to speak. The gentiles who were not yet Christians that happened to be in attendance asked Paul to come back as they probably assumed that was the Christian custom. It wasn't the Christian custom, but it was Paul's custom to do that as he had a ready-made audience to speak to. Nothing in this chapter indicates that Christians have to keep the sabbath. If we were we would have to keep it as the law says to, including executing those who violate it.

You can be baptized and continue to sin without confessing those new sins, and therefore receive no forgiveness. It is why Christ always admonished the ones He healed and forgave to “go and sin no more”. In one instance He said: “or a worse thing comes upon you. In Isaiah God said: “ the soul that sinneth, it shall die”. BAPTISM on the other hand is an outward demonstration of an inward transformation. It is a prerequisite to entering heaven according to Christ: unless a man be born again, he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. It indicates a spiritual rebirth and a death of the flesh which is carnal. “Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God”
