Hi folks!
My name is Dow. Originally from the great state of Texas....after 8 years in the military....I now live in WA state and work for the railroad. I took my banjo all over the world on a submarine in the Navy, and now I take my guitar with me when I travel on freight trains. Sometimes my guitar is all I've got away from home. As you all may notice...I'm a HUGE Jerry Reed junkie! I've been fixated with him and his style of playing ever since I saw "Smokey and the Bandit" as a kid...10-11 years old. I've been "hooked" on him ever since and I just turned 37 the other week.
My KZread account started out just showing some videos for friends and family. But through support and comments...I see that there are all sorts of Reed fans in the world who crave to listen to and also play his style. I know how happy Reed's music makes me...so...I'm happy to help anybody I can find happiness in learning or enjoying a new Reed tune anyway possible. Enjoy! Dow

Son! 👍👍👍
Pick that thing son!!!!! Awesome 👏
This tune really brings out the greatness of the banjo. Great version.
Love that plucky sound. Reminds me of those sounds from rural America. The title is Elvis' and David Bowie's birthday.
No sound lad
Man dow you the man .
From one Douthitt to another, good stuff. My brother is talented like you. I am good at fixing stuff though, lol.
Thanks Douthitt! I’ve only ever seen 1 other in 40 years, and he was from Minnesota and spelled it with one T at the end….and get this…he said his own name wrong!!! In Texas we say it like “Dow-thitt”….up in Minnesota where he was from, he said it “Dah-thitt”.
Young with good taste and talent ! Thanks for putting this up on youtube! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Fantastic cover
Do you have any tab for it?
Just incredible.
Still going? Love how those old Deere rev low but wont stall. I just moved my 1993 14SB walk behind out to Indiana. 2nd crank and it came to life like it was brand new.
This is amazing!!!! Woohoo!!!
The tuning is exactly what you said. Drop D but half step flat. Its a D-Flat 2sus4 chord. Db Ab Db Gb C Eb it's weird because the B goes to C.
That my friend is the best guitar lesson on this song. Gotta subscribe, your lessons are great. Thank you for posting.
Dod you learn these tunes by ear? I'm about to start doing the same. Wish me luck!
I haven't played in about 5 years due to a medical condition watching your videos has gotten me interested in playing again Thank you
When this song came out i was a kid. And i was fascinated by the song. Dude I like your version better than Jerry. Although i think Jerry is awesome.
With your talent you could make bank on KZread if you done these videos right, i would die to be able to play like you!! No one where i live (Iowa) can play like you, everyone loves Jerry Reed here but no one good enough to figure it out!! Thanks for your videos, you should go to Nashville!!!!
Great son! Very nice and simplified, in a very good way, for us! Plus you are so nice and gifted for teaching! Many thanks from Italy!
Uggg
❤Nice ..... Top
Greetings from Germany Peter ❤😊
Wooow
epic lol
Thanks buddy! That was quite awhile ago when I recorded it. And I had a set of nylon/steel strings I was trying out….didn’t care for them…gave the guitar a different sound than I prefer.
Also reminds me of late actor Gary Collins & Carol Lynley in an episode of The 6th Scents in 1972.
Nice!
Very good. God bless!
Fantastic! Love it! 💥👋👋🏆
Good lesson! And by the way....GO HAWKS!!
awesome!
F’n A brother Love this song You did it well
I'm willing to bet that's Eric on mando and Marshall Brickman on 5-string. Very few realize that Eric was the original mando man in The Greenbriar Boys way back in the day.
There's a guitar in there too -- probably Dick Rosmini.
Son!
Do i need the Jerry Reed sideburns to pull that off???
You knows it sonny Jim!
Absolutely brilliant first class
Thanks bro !! You taught me!!
I was a little unsure at first but damn if you didn't get it!! Good job!!😄😄👍👍
Wow this is awesome
Hello, what is the model of this guitar please. Thank you for this lesson it helped me a lot. Thierry Girard Old French Guitarist.😁
Comment ca va? Thanks for the inquiry, glad you enjoyed the video. As indicated in the description, it is a 1965 Harmony H173, almost identical to Jerry’s Baldwin 801…built by the same company.
@@texican65 Thank you for your answer, I found this guitar, I lowered the strings and put a very strong tension, it had to be fine. Maybe I'll saw off a bit... I take back the guitar that I had stopped to work in 1978. I was Shoemaker for 44 years, and now retired. My idol is Jerry Reed. I worked on Jerry's breakdown, Guitar Man is next. Thank you and see you soon. THIERRY GIRARD. Old French Guitar Man
Sorry but I couldn't send the photo of the guitar I found. It's not important
Super. For me Jerry Reed is the boss.
Merci beaucoup je vois mieux le style. Question. A tu baissé les cordes de la guitare, elles sont souvent hautes sur les classique?
AWESOME!!!!!! thank you !
Great video !!!!! Greetings from Argentina. I´ll try it as soon as possible!!
Great job dude!
Great ❤
All those little it's of guitar magic going on in Jerry's songs take serious drive for me to learn them from tabs. Years back when I had all types of pep in me It musta took me 6 months i accurately play the banjo roll stuff in muleskinner blues. I already play this turn around but watching you break it down makes this process so much more digestible. And you have know to pull the strings just right get that feelin in it. I'd love to learn that last lick you played at the end of the video. And so many others. Thanks dow texican
