Go back and bring a shovel! I bet there’s tons under the surface, probably whole bottles

I've found quite a few interesting things in this spot. Did a little digging with a small hand shovel the other day and have pulled out a couple intact bottles from early 1900's. I think you are right, there's probably a lot under the surface. So far, I've enjoyed discovering a little more with each visit...

How come these wild plants are variegated? I never see variegated wild plants in England! 😢
@markcollins2883 Жыл бұрын
That's a great question! I'm not a scientist, so I don't know the "why's." I just assumed it was a genetic variation like albinism in people or animals. I've only been looking for a few years, but I've seen wild variegation in plants in various locations across the country. I would also guess that they are definitely there in England too, it's just a matter of spotting them!

So I am only aware of one form of variegated pachysandra on the market called 'Silver Edge". It's variegation is a white margin form. This one is similar but has a second layer of yellow. This is something special and I believe it should be collected, and time spent on isolating the variegation. It would take time possibly years but I believe well worth it. We do have a native form called Pachysandra procumbens that naturally has some silver mottling to its leaves but a variegated form of that would be amazing.
