In running the chainsaws they really want 9, 12, or 15 amp hour batteries as while the 6 will run the saw it can’t deliver the instantaneous amps needed given the 18650 batteries it has. The 9 and 12 have 21700 cells and the 9s actually has better high draw cells than the 12s. The 15 has (30) 18650 cells that make up for the instantaneous deficiencies but they’re HEAVY given the 30 cells. The newer FlexVolt saws, 18 & 20, are good saws, with the right batteries, as they didn’t nerf those saws for run time and over-protection; the 14 is just too slow for its own good, seemingly to get better battery life. With the saws battery temperature increase under load can be more of an issue than actual capacity running down/out so they seem to want to limit the draw to below what the motor wants. These saws can outpace gas when they’re tuned for performance and kept up with cool batteries. I run a business and have dozens of batteries so it isn’t an issue but for someone not in the trades or with a glut of batteries these saws can really leave you wanting more. The best thing for me, other than the instant torque is the reduced noise level as beyond being quieter when running there is ZERO idle noise as they make no noise when not cutting. I didn’t eliminate my gas saws but I do notice I don’t use them nearly as much; though I also don’t cut what I used to. The DeWalt saws can adjust oil flow.

You did that absolutely correct brother. Take all the weight off before you remove the branch on the roof. Very nice work. Wish I was younger and lived close to ya. I would have enjoyed that job. For whatever reason, my favorite jobs were always a tree that had fallen on a house. It is a puzzle that has to be solved. Had one years ago where just a branch of this giant old oak tree had cut the house in half. Super dangerous. House was unstable. Tree was super sketchy. And it was literally the largest oak I have ever seen. Took me two days to get it down and another day to haul it off. And I loved every minute of it.

Thanks! Yeah trees on structures are definitely fun from a tactical point of view. Obviously this one was a small tree and relatively easy but fun nonetheless! Dang, just a branch did that? Thanks for the great review. Here's some speculation on why the throttle response is lacking. When you first pull the throttle that's when the motor is pulling the most amperage. Part of designing a good electric tool is yielding decent battery life. Maybe DeWalt limited the throttle response to help increase battery life? (just guessing)

The issue with the Dewalt is that they set the soft start ramp speed too low. Based on what you showed, the power and top speed are there, the motor is just taking too long to get there. For someone not used to a Husqvarna electric saws throttle response profile, that might be fine, but for you it really is noticeable. Thanks for the great review. I have a few Dewalt tools already, and only do tree work on the side, so I think this could be a great fit for me. Godspeed.

Right, I felt better having both of my tie-ins above that large branch I cut. That’s when I brought the 500i up to power through the cut as well. I actually think the second tree was more dangerous. You know how it is, all of that variability looming around you not knowing exactly what’s held where etc. Especially on that tree leafed out, it was hard to see anything. Thanks for your valuable input bro, I really appreciate it!!
Great clean up 😁 hopefully the USA didn’t get too badly bashed up by the storms 😮💨
Thanks! It has been a bit of a stormy year here in the Midwest! Very wet too, we’ve had some flooding by us!
What a mess! 😂 great video, got me motivated for some tree work today! 🪵🪓
Big mess! Thanks Trav! You going tree work full-time now? I see the handle change, I assume that's the name of your business? Be safe out there!
@@ClimbingColt yeah considering the jump full time in January, 25'! I'm finishing a masters degree this fall but I'm not built for the office :) I do veteran counseling so I am starting a separate channel dedicated to that. It will still be Project Follow On. For some odd reason I love this tree stuff. haha
@@SidonianTree That’s awesome! Cool I’ll have to sub to that one too! Yeah tree work is different for some reason, I was an electrician before starting my tree business. It would be hard to go back….
@@ClimbingColt got the old F350 back today so it’s gonna be a fun one! Clutch was toast. Ha
Colt, it is a good thing that we know that Andy is "Coach" 😂😂
Definitely! He’s a school teacher by profession and coaches baseball too. Unfortunately I only have his help for the summer months. He’ll be starting back teaching in September, I’ll go back to being a solo op….
Thanks for the professional review colt. Sick and tired of watching homeowners review arborist saws and cutting 2x4s and not knowing their ass from a whole in the ground when it comes to chainsaws.
Hey man, thanks for watching!! I appreciate the feedback!!
Good job. Hi from the tree city of Tamarac Florida
Hey, thanks!! Florida is an awesome state!
Helmet cam was not a good idea, makes me nauseous. 🤢🤢👎👎😒😒
Yeah, the lighting wasn’t great either. I should’ve just set up the tripod on the roof but I didn’t think of that in the moment. Still figuring this filming thing out. I appreciate the feedback!
Nice job, guys. Keep up the good work! Cheers from the Netherlands
Thanks for watching!!
That was interesting. Good job.
Thanks for watching!
Must have been a huge tree! I’ve done quite a few on houses but never one that actually cut through a house yet. I can imagine that would add even more variables to the situation…
“Just start cutting and see what happens…” 😂 classic. That’s half my jobs
Right on! Sometimes you've just got to get some brush out of your way so you can see what's going on!
very professional a roof on an existing roof😅
Saved the customer money
lol I’m definitely not a professional roofer. This is my own POS shed. I’m just trying to get it to shed water again…
I’ve had my DeWalt for a few months now and definitely agree about the chain lag. It’s very noticeable coming from gas top handles
Good to know I’m not the only one! How do you like the saw otherwise?
The yellow traingle indicator comes on if you push the saw too hard and the chain stops. Kinda like "hey dont push me so hard" And yes i wish the dewalt oiled better. I dont really mind the throttle response on the dewalt, it has a 3 speed variable speed trigger. I actually like it but I dont have any experience with gas powered top handles.
You are correct!! Thanks for pointing that out! I forgot to edit that in. I figured most people’s wouldn’t mind the throttle response, I’m probably just spoiled with the Husky battery/ gas saws. I appreciate the clarification/ feedback! 😀
😂🤣😂 the chipper scene reminded me of the old chuck and duck machines. Be careful brother! 🤣😂🤣👍👍👍
😂 Thankfully my machine doesn’t pull as fast as those chuck and ducks! I definitely shouldn’t have been standing on that side though!
good stuff man
Thanks Spencer!!
I just drove over my echo electric saw with the mini skid ... so keep thinking about that Dewalt saw
Oh no, mini won I assume?! I think it’s overall pretty decent, I’ve just been spoiled with the Husky’s. It’s hard to want to use the Dewalt when the Husky’s are sitting there. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on it if you pick one up though!
@@ClimbingColt I got the echo back together again with a lot of plastic JB weld ... Like you said in the vid the bummer about switching platforms is the batteries. I've got some dough in that echo platform
Fun job! Nice work!
What a view man! Looked like a fun job. Great climb
Definitely! Lake jobs are usually a good time! They come with their own set of challenges though, like any job I guess. Thanks man!
Awesome job brother
Thanks 👍
Thanks for the great review. Here's some speculation on why the throttle response is lacking. When you first pull the throttle that's when the motor is pulling the most amperage. Part of designing a good electric tool is yielding decent battery life. Maybe DeWalt limited the throttle response to help increase battery life? (just guessing)
That very well could be and would make sense! I’m definitely not an expert on electric motors but I thought the throttle response was worth noting. Thanks for watching!
Is there a big difference between the husqvarna t535i and the t540i
I wouldn’t say a big difference. The 540 is slightly more powerful and has the palm safety. Otherwise they’re quite similar.
@@ClimbingColtT542i with a clutch is a game changer tho
@@dascubaguy Looking forward to getting that one!!
Godspeed.
Exactly, well said! That's why I think most people will like the saw actually. Thanks for watching! I appreciate the comment!
