What a gorgeous song to have only discovered now after a lifelong love of The Supremes. Despite having several signed photos of the great Mary Wilson and even a brief correspondence with her, this song somehow slipped through. At a time when the word seems to be increasingly misguided and with its priorities upside down, this lovely melody can fill hearts again. Thank you so much for sharing this and spreading joy to all of us, and thank you always to Flo, Mary and Diana, The Funk Brothers and the magic of Motown.

Never heard her voice so singularly like in this song and quite frankly, I'm blown away by it. She was a waste being a backup singer in the supremes. She had a dynamic voice with range. She's remembered in 2024.

The Supremes flyin' on their own here. Great lyrics to this song, great arrangement and production. Plus nice subtle stereo on this track from 1971

Of all the versions of this song for me this is the weakest, the less interesting, the most emotionless. It’s as if reading the lyrics from a lead sheet. Coupled with the changes of the minor chords it loses its heart. Her thin voice doesn’t lend itself to a song like this one which usually invokes such melancholy when done by better singers.
