    I have the Sequel 33 and love it. However I had to run the integrated QAD MX rest instead of my favorite Hamskea Epsilon rest as there is not enough left adjustment due to the thicker riser. Hamskea is addressing this issue (according to a Hamskea rep I spoke to at TAC). But all in all a fantastic bow.

    I can answer the question without watching the video. The answer is no. It is not that great. I shot the Lift 33 on 4 different occasions in 3 weeks. I did not buy one. I wanted to like it. I couldn't. It has that typical tail jumpy draw cycle Mathews bow have become famous for. On that big archery forum there are threads about derails and even some limb splinters. If I were going to buy a Mathews, and I'm not going to, I would buy the V3X. It is almost as quiet as the Phase 4, and has proven to be a rock solid platform. There are bows with much nicer draw cycles, great speed, and all of the features I need in a flagship bow. The Lift is a swing and a miss for me. I have owned a lot of Mathews bows over the years and some were fantastic. They have slowly moved away from smooth draw cycles in favor of speed. I want a bow that is enjoyable to shoot. The Lift just didn't do it for me.

  • @huntg4
    @huntg42 ай бұрын

    What’s interesting with the Mathews is that the draw cycle seems to depend on the draw length

    I’m a 31” draw and Mathew’s has the smoothest draw of any bow I tried at the time. I’m still rocking the Traverse and have not seen a new Mathew’s bow worth changing to.

    The Mathew's lift should come with a top hat kit (free) I've seen several lifts come with mis matched spacers and won't tune therefore you have to purchase a top hat kit $50.00 to find correct spacers for it. That sucks.

  • @huntg4
    @huntg42 ай бұрын

    The shop you buy it from should have all the top hats and tune the bow with you when you purchase it. You can have any configuration of the top hat sets, so there’s really no such thing as mid mismatching them. But I agree they should come with them so if a guy wants to tune at home, he can do it.

    When i shot the two bows side by side I preferred the 29.5 which surprised me, I believe it had to do with the fact that the 33 felt more tipsy/top heavy.

  • @jrhunt414

    Oh no the reflex myth again. Measure the brace height. Next take a measurement at full draw from a line connecting the tangent points where the string contacts the cams perpendicular to the throat of the grip. Compare the brace to this measurement at full draw. This moment arm measurement is the only measurement that matters for stability at full draw. It doesn’t matter that the riser is straighter and the limbs are shorter. Reflex geometry measurements are completely meaningless. Brace height, Limb flex, and cam design are what really matters to lengthen that moment arm and resist torque about the axis of the grip. On some bows the brace height may be 6” but that moment arm is 7.5”. On another 6” brace bow that measurement could be 5”.

    What you’re saying isn’t wrong, but, as a general rule of thumb, less reflex equals less torque. Also, in general brace height is directly correlated to riser geometry. But, for the tinkering folk, what you’re describing is something to look at
